Councilman says it's a misunderstanding
A 17-year-old said a road rage incident involved an Edwardsville city councilman.
Kali Chatmon said Councilman Chuck Stites left her speechless and scared.
"It really hurt. It really hurt my feelings," she said. "He stopped where he rolled down his back window, started cussing at me and the passenger, and he called me a derogatory term and a racial slur."
Chatmon, her mother and dozens of community members addressed Councilman Stites at City Hall Tuesday night.
He sat silent while residents expressed their concerns.
"There's an ongoing investigation," Councilman Stites told 41 Action News. "It's a misunderstanding. There's a lot more to this story than is being told, and I think it would probably be inappropriate for me to comment much more until that investigation is complete."
"I'm okay with somebody voicing their opinion. That's their right, and that doesn't bother me at all. I have no intention of stepping down," Councilman Stites said.
Why doesn’t he just deny it and call her a liar?
How do you know that’s true?
“There’s an ongoing investigation,” Councilman Stites told 41 Action News. “It’s a misunderstanding. There’s a lot more to this story than is being told, and I think it would probably be inappropriate for me to comment much more until that investigation is complete.”
If you put that paragraph through Googje Translate, Political Speech to English, it comes out in English to.
“My political career is over.”
I have no idea whether this story is true or not. But, if there was nothing to her story, don’t you think the councilman would have said something like “I never used a racial slur,” rather than what he did say, a wishy-washy “it was a misunderstanding”?
No doubt;
From the “Black Lies Matter” campaign, say whatever to get your way, then scream fowl and double down whenever you get called on it.
Its the future man, get on board...
Rofl. I remember I number of years back a baseball player got punched out by an Italian guy and on the 911 call made a bunch of Italian racial slurs. People complained but nothing came of it. I was mad myself but we didn’t protest lol. It was enough that he got knocked out by one punch :)
But screaming fowl is so, I don’t know ... chicken.
We need to get past this point where any racially negative remark or sexually negative remark can ruin your career. I say this girl is being coached and used by her family to get a fat payoff of some kind for some reason. People say things when they get upset. This should not be the end of it.
I guarantee if it was reversed, if a black politician said something ugly about a white teen while in traffic, very little would be done about it. And rightfully so. This girl thinks she is ‘entitled to make someone pay for any moment of worry in her short life. If true, the councilman should own up to it, make a contribution to something like BlackLives Matter and move on. He should not pay her one red cent!
I see no mention of the incident trigger. Perchance, did the young, now-suddenly-offended lady happen to be driving while stupid? Perhaps only mutual apologies are in order instead of politically correct payola. [That solution may elicit howls of cashless indignation from a certain party of color, though]
It's sad, when that is automatically the first thing I think of too. If the roles were reversed........
Well, then.
The earth's rotation must be stopped, all court dockets cleared and counselors put on high alert for the special snowflake.
Perhaps a plot to get rid of a council person whom is of another race?
I'm confused.
