So the police should give a crazy person with a knife special consideration when confronting them?

Sounds oddly redundant.

How many mentally ill people do we know that wear a sign stating their affliction? Not too many I surmise.

I would hope the next step is suing whomever let a mentally ill woman have a knife in the first place. Case should have been dismissed when brought up.

How can a police officer, or ANYONE, know whether an unknown attacker is “mentally ill?”

Should we ask them from the other side of the grave?

Of course; we’ll just ignore the group home thing where she was living... who were responsible for seeing that she didn’t hurt herself or others.

Well if it is like Tennessee, the state hires Haitian immigrants at minimum wage to watch them.

“But the justices left undecided the question of whether police must take special precautions when arresting armed and violent people suffering from mental illness.”

Because it is so easy to tell the difference between a crazy person and a ‘sane’ person. We all know “armed and violent” insane people can’t hurt you as fast as a ‘normal’ armed and violent sane person.
