was talking to my SIL about it just now and she is incensed that they closed the park early instead of ejecting the hooligans. she also suggests that they post mugshots of offenders at the front and deny them admission in future.
Unfortunately, prosecutorial over-reach (often totally unjustified) is a feature of law enforcement in many parts of this country. This reminds me of the "John Doe" investigations in Milwaukee, although there were no sexual allegations there. Everything is top secret and targets aren't even allowed to consult an attorney! It's a quirky law we have here that allows this.
I know a case right now where an official of our local GOP was forced out on spurious "charges" brought by our DA who supported a different candidate. I will NEVER vote for that DA, although he will never have an opponent until he's ready to give up his office voluntarily. I'll write in. I know of too many similar cases.
you have everything ready for Mothers day this coming weekend? this is your friendly PSA ; )
yes when reading the article you linked, I definitely thought of the Milwaukee stuff.
Had a scary bit on Friday. xsteen was in San Diego for work, and was flying back home on Friday AM. She was at her gate at the airport and 20 minutes short of boarding when I got a call from her, saying she was having some pain and what should she do. I told her to call her practice and see what they said to do. they told her to be perfectly safe, she should not board, and instead go to the closest ER. So I said that’s what you need to do. She is no wimp, nor a drama queen, so I knew she had to be feeling pretty bad to even contemplate doing this. I was praying that all would be well, as she was all alone there [didn’t travel on same flight with anyone from her ofc]. Thank the Lord the San Diego hosp she went to had a completely empty ER. one hour from her first call to me, she had been seen and was told her cervix was closed, the baby was fine and she could fly. She made the very next flight home and was only delayed 2 hours by the whole ordeal. Had this happened HERE, no way in the world could it have been resolved as expeditiously.
Oh, right. Need to order a Coldstone cake.
Christopher Newport University. One of my grandsons has declared his intent to go there next year. Don't ask about his major. I'm sure it will be something impractical, although he's a good student.
That’s surprising. I mean that she could get into and out of an ER that fast. Glad everything is OK.
We had a scare with Sarah where we thought we had lost her (as we had earlier pregnancies). We went to the ER instead of seeing George Carlin at the Palace in Greensburg.
When the "System" decides they are going after you there is very little you can do in your own defense. Every step of the way you need to pay for filings, communication, documentation, discovery, etc even if you have a public defender. If you are inside it gets even more expensive (A phone call can cost ten bucks). In many cases the defendant doesn't have anything to begin with (it makes him an easy conviction -- He doesn't have anything with which to fight them.) Our legal system has become justice only to those that can pay for it. It gets even more infuriating when you realize that what they use to fight you is coming from what they taxed you to get in the first place.
If you get attacked by the IRS it's even worse
The Clintonesque dealings, malodorous
Show how stupid the low-info voter is
They elected Obama
Now Hillary’s drama
Makes me ask what the imbecile quota is
Glad I can keep you in good standing at home!
He’s the Richmond grandson? He will not be too far from home. Congrats to him!
I was totally blown away that she was seen and reassured and only two hours late. I had three miscarriages so I know what you mean about scares. She’s 28 weeks the end of this week. Glucose test is fri.
LMAO! I’d venture to guess its pretty high! A ++++
Yes. His father would have preferred that he stay home and attend VCU or University of Richmond. But this is a smaller university that should meet his needs better.
He was admitted to all where he applied, but CNU is what he chose. I think he can continue with band there, major in biology?, and has the opportunity for a campus job tutoring Spanish. He will be a graduate of a Spanish immersion HS next month and made excellent marks in Latin. He took Latin until his schedule would no longer allow it.
Who has the pic of Canckles in old crusty?
take your pick!
Is that related to the Newport cigarettes?
No. The University is named after Capt. Christopher Newport, a ship captain who brought early settlers to Jamestown in the 1600s. Also, it is located in Newport News, VA.
Not a totally ridiculous question given Richmond and surrounds are a tobacco stronghold.
