Personal and medical experience indicates that switching genders will not give Bruce Jenner peace.
With the airing of his interview with Diane Sawyer last Friday, Bruce Jenner became the most triumphant, celebrated, photographed, and interviewed transgender in the world. Jenner, a longtime transvestite, now at 65 years of age is going to explore his feminine side by transitioning to female. Along the way, he hopes to inspire others.
Jenner’s interview opened a window for millions of viewers to see the psychological deliberation of a cross-dresser. Jenner shared that the emotional stress of hiding his secret has become unbearable. His internal struggle led him to the question: Would I be happier living as a full-time transgender female or should I continue living as a transvestite?
But there is reason to be concerned for Jenner’s transition. A review of more than 100 international medical studies of post-operative transgenders conducted in the United Kingdom in 2004 found “no robust scientific evidence that gender reassignment surgery is clinically effective.” Chris Hyde, the director of the research facility that conducted the review, said: “There is a huge uncertainty over whether changing someone’s sex is a good or a bad thing. While no doubt great care is taken to ensure that appropriate patients undergo gender reassignment, there’s still a large number of people who have the surgery but remain traumatized—often to the point of committing suicide.”
As a former transgender myself, I found it painful to see Jenner looking so fragile, exhibiting an uncertain nervousness throughout the interview. I see Jenner and my heart sinks with sadness; my stomach aches in pain. When Jenner said, “I want to know how this story ends, you know?” a rush of concern filled me.

When it comes down to it, all he’s really doing is changing his clothes.
This individual has it right: Jenner’s interview was not a coming out; it was a cry for help.
It’s very difficult for me to understand what he wants to become.
He clearly states that’s he’s still attracted to women, but he wants to be attracted to women AS A WOMAN.
So what he is in essence is what Rush Limbaugh used to term -— a MALE LESBIAN.
A lesbian trapped in a man’s body...

He is deeply mentally and emotionally troubled.
Or this is a Carnival act to generate money
This disorder is no different than anorexia and its just as destructive and deadly. We should be counseling these people, not switching out body parts.
Here’s another analogy, I’m a white guy ‘transitioning’ to a black man. I know, I have white skin but today I identify as black so give me free stuff!!
Chemistry and cutlery do not change gender.
Strap on! Strap Off!! Its Bruce Gender Bender! If it wants to be in the public eye that is on him, courageous? not really our men and women fighting for this country are courageous!!!
Right. Because he can take hormones and lop off his external genitalia, but he can't change his DNA, his skeletal structure, his musculature, or his brain. It's very sad. I wonder in sympathy what happened to him to make him so confused and unhappy.
Bruce(ette) should bring his call for help to the middle east and get the grass roots movement involved. That should ease his/her/ it mental problem
Jenner’s problems are deeper.
Per an earlier thread, he was taking breast enhancement drugs. Fell in love with a Kardashian. Had breast reduction surgery. Married Kardashian (1991). Separated (2013) and divorced (2015) Kardashian.
Well, he looks like he had a terrible trauma when his brother and his girlfriend were killed in his Porsche. Could have been a huge trigger for inner emotional/mental issues after the euphoria of winning the Gold medal.
Now there is the second death just recently in the auto accident.
Yes, he needs intensive psychiatric care.
Put Bruce Jenner, Chaz Bobo and Ellen Degenerate on a deserted island and see how long it takes before they decide to do a ‘threesome’.
It would be great idea for a new ‘reality’ show.
How does the family of the woman Jenner killed earlier this year feel about his upcoming transformation? Anyone? Hello?
he is not transitioning into a female. mutilitative surgery and hormone treatment cannot alter the fact that he is male and will always genetically be a male.
i would think that all the resources being spent here would yield a more positive result had then been directed at his accepting his condition, rather than creating a monstrosity - something that is male, yet sports female-looking appendages.
a travesty that we think that giving people their desires is superior than conditioning them to live with reality
