Racy lingerie retailer Frederick’s of Hollywood is seeking bankruptcy protection in federal court after closing all of its stores and switching to an online-only business, which it intends to sell to the highest bidder.
The privately held company says competition, decreased mall foot traffic and onerous leases helped push it into a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

Slutty has gone mainstream, they lost their niche.
It sells well. FOH never adjusted to the competition. They were always expensive and the quality was generally lacking. And they never got over their “nudge nudge wink wink” attitude at the store, poorly lit, under trained sales people with no comprehension that on some level this stuff has to actually be functional. It’s kind of amazing it’s taken them this long to hit the dirt, this handwriting has been on the wall a good 20 years.
You know what Victoria’s actual secret is? It’s a man. Or at least it was, he sold it. He’d tried to buy something sexy for his girlfriend, didn’t like the fact that all the lingerie stores were dimly lit, staffed with people who knew nothing about the products or fit, and were stocked with cheap crap. So he created VS, a brightly lit store, with well trained staff who can actually help the customers, and high quality merchandise. Basically the whole point of the store is don’t be FOH.
