The flush means fresh water. Try one of those 5 gallon deals that don’t run dry in half a day.

My Aussie doesn’t drink from the toilet.
Instinct tells them running streams are fresher water than stagnant puddles.
My dog only drinks out of a fountain in have in the back yard. Even when their is ice on the pond.
I don’t see a problem with it, as long as you train them to flush afterward.
Because the lid was up and they are allowed to do it.
Because the toilet has everybody’s individual smell on and around it, so they are drawn to return there, as with a familiar fire hydrant.
Because they get a bucketfull of attention from their owners when they do it. The owners over-react by being either horrified and disgusted, or worse, thinking it’s ‘cute’ and inevitable.
This prompts another question; why do people have their drinks cooled with ice from any fast food restaurant, the flushed water in your home toilet or even the toilet in the restaurant is much cleaner.

They see a larger supply of water in the toilet, that’s all. Two bones otherwise equal, but one larger — they’ll go for the larger. Wouldn’t you?
Because it’s an American dog and it doesn’t know how sophisticated Eurodogs are; they are much smarter, never drink from toilets, and we should all emulate them. Yes, even people.
