Bill Buckley was one of the greats and he called it like it was.
Too bad he took his balls with him. We could sure use some of that in DC.
It’s sad he let this guy get under his skin.
Buckley was an Infantry officer during WWII, and joined the CIA during the Korean War.
Like H.W. Bush, if forced to fisticuffs, there is no doubt that a bit of a tiger was inside that cultured exterior.
Bill Buckley was a hero of mine.
I can’t say any Gore has been a hero of mine.
the question is which one? lol
Never seen the clip before but when I saw Bill Buckley
attached to the quote I knew it would be Gore Vidal on
the receiving end. Always loved Buckley and hated Vidal
but two blue bloods going at it is damned amusing. It’s
like watching two nerds fight.
Buckley. Disappointing. He would have looked much better if he calmly explained that Vidal- calling him a Nazi was a case of projection.
Inner tiger vs cultured exterior...hmmm... gives me thoughts on how to reply -i’ll get back to you on this one. :)
I’m not seeing two nerds I’m seeing two gentlemen from opposite sides of a spectrum who were 1%’s as we know them today. Both of them always had full press access.
I read Buckley’s God & Man at Yale but won’t comment at the present time-maybe l8r & I’ll get back to you on this.
Buckley sued Vidal....and later dropped the suit.
http://www.nytimes.com/books/98/03/01/home/vidal-suit.html
Vidal called Buckley a “pro-crypto-Nazi,” a modest slip of the tongue, he later said, because he was searching for the word “fascist” and it just didn’t come out. Inflamed by the word “Nazi” and the whole tenor of the discussion, Buckley snapped back: “Now listen, you queer,” he said, “stop calling me a crypto-Nazi or I’ll sock you in you goddamn face and you’ll stay plastered.” Smith attempted to calm the exchange with “gentlemen, let’s not call names,” but the damage had been done. The two men, considerably subdued, met the following night for the last of their week of debates.
By early 1969, Vidal said he had put the incident behind him. But Buckley had not, and so he proposed to the editors of Esquire that he write a piece about his exchanges with Vidal. Naturally, seeking fair play, the magazine asked Vidal if he would like to write about Buckley, and it was agreed that the pieces would run in consecutive issues - Buckley’s in August 1969, Vidal’s in September. The requisite lawsuits ensued at the time, and Vidal, who made it clear to Buckley that he would not back down, won something of a pyrrhic victory: Buckley, told by a judge that he probably would not win if his suit went to court, agreed to let Esquire pay his legal fees and issue an apology, after which he dropped his lawsuit. Vidal’s legal fees went unreimbursed.
If you look carefully you will understand that I did
not indicate that I saw two nerds. I referred to them
as blue bloods.
Frank Gore is pretty good.
lol- bluebloods? ah yes ! I’ve got the Blueblood Bible US version right here at my fingertips.
A true amazing weighty tome and well worth the read-
The chosen:the hidden history of admission and exclusion at Harvard,Yale,Princeton/Jerome Karabel. 2005
You buy this book you won’t regret it it’s very well worth the read.

We need more fighters.
Who cares what any flaming faggie thinks, unless they’re armed with a court order?
This is where we’re at, folks - faggies rule. The power of this regime is behind them. Just ask any bake shop owner.
