iOS 8.2 is available for downloading and updating iPhones, iPads, and other iOS devices

It is time to go to your Setting/General/Software Update on your iOS devices because Apple has release iOS 8.2 for general release.

Today at their Spring Forward event Apple made a number of announcements. One smaller but still important update to come from the event was the release of iOS 8.2. The main purpose of iOS 8.2 is to add support for Apple Watch so that devices are ready when it begins to ship next month. It includes the new Apple Watch application, and likely many changes under the hood to prepare devices for when the Apple Watch becomes available.

Health app improvements

Stability enhancements

Bug fixes

As you can see, there are a fair number of improvements in this release. The size of the update will depend on your device. On an iPhone 6, the OTA update came in at 476MB, while the release for the iPad Air 2 was only 391MB due to the fact that it doesn't include the new Apple Watch application.

Great. I don't suppose we'll be able to uninstall the "Apple Watch" application, will we? I have plenty of wristwatches, some of them rather nice, and I do not need or want one from Apple.

The most irritating thing about the iphone (in my opinion) is the inability to arrange the "desktop" as I choose to arrange it.

The second-most irritating thing is the built-in "crap-Apples" that cannot be removed from the device (by normal users):

On my phone I have moved Passbook, Health, Podcasts, Newsstand, Calculator, Tips, Facetime, etc. in to an icon I've named "Useless Bulls##t". I have no use for any of these apps and would love to be able to remove them from the device - but apparently somebody at Apple knows better than I do what I need on my phone.

If my company issued device was not required to be an iphone, I would probably have a Galaxy S5.

Does this have the new Net Neutrality monitoring app built in too?

I would just like to have the sidebar on my iPad Mail minimized like it used to. Was just a swipe and it disappeared...

I'll download the update and hope for the best.

Other than removing apps you don’t want, how would you like to “arrange” the desktop?

I’d like to be able to place icons anywhere I want them on the screen.

Amen!
Long time Droid Maxx user.
I tried out an Apple iPhone 6 for a week and Strongly dislike the 10 hr battery life, inability to customize desktop, slow network interaction, slow data and talk performance, weird / limited way of editing info on screen, camera pixilation of image at moderate zoom in.
Traded it in within the 15 day trial for a S5.
I’ve had my new Samsung S5 for a week now and am in love with it.
IMHO it is The Perfect smart cell phone.
Almost tempted to buy another one at discount once it’s discontinued by vzw.
BTW: I decided against jailbreak in it so as to maximize security privacy.
Disabled geolocation, anything Google related, and other options that exfiltrate data.
Installed f-secure to add a layer of security for app behavior and secure browsing.
Also only using Firefox Mozilla and Startpage.com for internet.

Sounds to me like you’ve already gone about arranging your desktop. So move the apple watch ( which is the Apple Store for the watch) to your useless bull crap folder and be done with it.

You can arrange the apps anywhere you want.

Really? I do not think so.

For instance, let’s say I have 8 icons on the first screen of my desktop, and I do not like having them arranged in two rows of 4 icons each.

How would I go about placing, say, the “Phone” icon and the “Safari” icon next to each other, in the two middle positions, one row up from the bottom of the “page”.

The answer is, I cannot: because the iPhone does not allow me to place the icons in any arrangement other than rows which populate from the top left corner of the screen. I can arrange the 8 icons in my example in any order I want, but they will always be grouped in 2 rows of 4, starting at the top left position.
