Plumes seen reaching high above the surface of Mars are causing a stir among scientists studying the atmosphere on the Red Planet.
On two separate occasions in March and April 2012, amateur astronomers reported definite plume-like features developing on the planet.
The plumes were seen rising to altitudes of over 250 km above the same region of Mars on both occasions. By comparison, similar features seen in the past have not exceeded 100 km.
"At about 250 km, the division between the atmosphere and outer space is very thin, so the reported plumes are extremely unexpected," says Agustin Sanchez-Lavega of the Universidad del PaÃs Vasco in Spain, lead author of the paper reporting the results in the journal Nature.
The features developed in less than 10 hours, covering an area of up to 1000 x 500 km, and remained visible for around 10 days, changing their structure from day to day.
None of the spacecraft orbiting Mars saw the features because of their viewing geometries and illumination conditions at the time.
However, checking archived Hubble Space Telescope images taken between 1995 and 1999 and of databases of amateur images spanning 2001 to 2014 revealed occasional clouds at the limb of Mars, albeit usually only up to 100 km in altitude.
But one set of Hubble images from 17 May 1997 revealed an abnormally high plume, similar to that spotted by the amateur astronomers in 2012.

It’s unreasonable for a planet with an atmosphere to experience weather, tectonic action, or the impact of bolides. I don’t know what Mars was thinking when it pulled this little stunt.

Earth is heating up lately, but so are Mars, Pluto and other worlds in our solar system, leading some scientists to speculate that a change in the sun’s activity is the common thread linking all these baking events.
It is earth pollution...
It’s the cloud of hate from that episode of The Twilight Zone. It arrived the day we planted the flag on Mars and has been growing ever since.

An impact makes the most sense to me(simplest explanation). Should be easily proved by looking for a crater in that area.
Its a well known idea that deep beneath the surface of Mars lies huge Martian military and societal centers which house the population of Mars in a state of induced cryogenic stasis. The vast array of such complexes are powered by nuclear power plants and are regulated by advanced computer technologies.
Defensive technologies have detected the probes sent from the planet earth and they have kick started defensive protocols on Mars, the first of which is to “terra form” the Martian atmosphere and restore it to it’s previous surface inhabitable state.
Once that’s accomplished, (it’ll take about 6 of our months, the Martian population will be revived and brought back to duty to man attack space craft with an aim to destroy those who sent the probes in the first place.
The “End Game” has begun!
Very professional and I expect the climate fraud trio (Drs. Hansen, Jones & Mann) to contact you soon notifying you that you are infringing on their copyrighted material. Although a dog ate all the supporting data, they do have a diagram, written in pencil on a napkin, dated three days ago to support their claim.
