Update, Saturday 3:30 AM: In Friday late night grosses, Universal Focus’ Fifty Shades of Grey is poised to hit a February opening day record with industry estimates predicting a first day of $31M for the feature adaptation of E.L. James’ fan femme novel and revised weekend projections standing at $83M for FSS and a potential four-day of $91M. Should Fifty Shades final at its current weekend projections, it is bound to find a place among the top R-rated weekend openings of all-time. 2003’s Matrix Reloaded currently owns the top FSS for an R-Rated film with $91.77M while 2004’s Passion of the Christ is the top weekend opener, and R-rated pic, in February with $83.8M.

Thinking of the infamous quote from John Lennon about the Beatles being more popular than Jesus Christ. Any freeper men got dragged into the theater to see this POS? The only redeeming thing about this whole Fifty phenomena is supposedly the book/movie makes references to Austen, Bronte sisters, and Hardy. A lot of the reviews are comparing Anastasia/Christian to a perverted version of Eyre/Rochester and Cathy/Heathcliff. So perhaps some of the women who like this trash might actually pick up one of those authors.

Second week is immune to hype. Reviews from people that watched it have been bad, and these were from the target audience.

PASSION did 380 Million domestic. After this first weekend(which, if you follow sites like Boxoffice.com, is something of a disappointment to people who follow ticket sales of movies; they expected 100 Million),business will sink like a rock. It won’t do anywhere near the business of PASSION.

LOL! It won’t make even half as much as ‘Christ’ did in the end

movie openings have changed since then. It is maximum screens for opening weekend because of piracy and people commenting.

(is this even inflation adjusted?)

for those who object, capitalism works. If a bunch of feminists want to see/spend money for a movie about the joys of a female being gaged so she does not talk and remains quiet, is this a bad thing for feminists?
