A controversial, but in many ways a great coach. But alas, he won’t be on the same level as the late Dean Smith, though.

I was wondering about The Shark just a couple of days ago, wondering if he was still alive, but never got around to looking it up. His UNLV Rebels were a big menace to my Seattle U then-Chieftains back in the 70s and 80s (I forget the exact years he was at UNLV). RIP

Or Wooden, but Tark was still a legend.

RIP

He nailed the NCAA with this quote, “The NCAA is so mad at Kentucky, it's going to give Cleveland State two more years’ probation.”

Tark was the head coach when I was at Long Beach State.

Masterful recruiter, as LB State went from an average College Division school in 1968 to nearly going to the Final Four in 1971.

I see some of his ex-players at the LB State games.

Condolences to the Tarkanian Family.

Lots of good memories when he coached at Fresno State and also from his time at UNLV when his team beat Fresno State most of the time.

He and his wife, Lois, are graduates of Fresno State.

Rest in Peace, Tark. You will be remembered.

I’m guessing he did that to avoid technical fouls.
