Bullets of ice shot at high speeds can deposit organic compounds on surfaces they strike. New findings suggest that comets might, indeed, have helped deliver key ingredients of life to Earth and perhaps elsewhere, researchers say.

The scientists detailed their findings in the June 13 issue of the journal Astrobiology.

Craters on the moon are evidence that the Inner Solar System was prone to giant impacts from asteroids and comets during a tumultuous era, known as the Late Heavy Bombardment, between 4.2 billion to 3.8 billion years ago. Intriguingly, this violent period overlaps with evidence of the earliest life on Earth, suggesting that these impacts may have played a role in the origin of life. [How the Earth Formed: A History]

“May” is the operative word here. Nonsense, pure nonsense.

God loaded up the comets with seeds of life then aimed carefully and gave them a good shove...

One thing these “ingredients of life” stories never seem to explain is how these “ingredient of life” molecules thrash about at random and just happen to form up in the configuration of even the simplest of single-cell creatures, complete with the means to acquire energy from their environment, somehow magically transitioning from “dead” to “alive”, then acquiring and matabolizing energy, and split to reproduce, with the two halves then growing back to the size their “parent” cell was before the split.

another head shaker!

who created the comets and the LIFE STUFF on the comets but God....

My favorites are the clowns who insist that ALIENS brought life to earth....

as if that was some great cosmic answer........

No, it's because no one has been able to explain the mechanics of how life began.

We all have beliefs that we live by, but none of them have been reproduced scientifically.

Always looking for that mysterious “jump start” for life.
It came from comets huh?
Well that solves that irritating problem for Darwin groupies.
Whatever. It just never ends.

One of my buds is a producer of one of those History UFO series. He told us he never believed in this “crap” and he just sucks in the gullible for numbers. It’s just entertainment.

I just worked a side job to earn some money for this overly educated kook with 2 Master degrees in Theology who previously was a former pastor for a large church who was booted after he started going off the deep end started basically preaching it was “gods” who created Earth not “God” and that Jesus was not the son of God based on research he had done (among many other crazy things). Not only did he not have the joy of the lord in him, he was rude, arrogant, lacking peace of mind, and exhibited fits of rage...everything contrary to the fruits of the spirit. He was so focused on theology that he fogot the two great commandments; that of loving God and others. Earth based intelligence is no match for the Creator’s...why some men think they can match His reveals their ignorance...

It is always nice to see modern science at least admitting that their current speculations about origins doesn’t make much sense.

This latest theory is so much better than the non-scientific theory that aliens visited the earth and left their seed.

“God loaded up the comets...” Just as God used water as a tool to destroy in Noah’s time, and used fire to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, and used a rib go create Woman, who is to say God doesn’t use other tools he created and at hand for his own purposes and plans?

An atheist scientist came to God and said, "We've figured out how to
make a man without you."

God said, "OK, let me see you do it."

So the atheist bent down to the ground and scooped up a handful.
But God stopped him and said, "Oh, no you don't. Get your own dirt!"
