1. one of the carts used during the French Revolution to convey victims to the guillotine.
2. a farmer's cart, especially one for hauling manure, that can be tilted to discharge its load.
3. Obsolete. a two-wheeled covered cart accompanying artillery for carrying tools, ammunition, etc.
4. an obsolete word for a ducking stool, which is: a former instrument of punishment consisting of a chair in which an offender was tied to be plunged into water.
Origin: mid-15c., "two-wheeled cart," earlier an instrument of punishment of uncertain type (early 13c.), from Old French tumberel "dump cart," from tomber "(let) fall or tumble," possibly from a Germanic source (cf. Old Norse tumba "to tumble," Old High German tumon "to turn, reel;" see tumble). Notoriously used to take victims to the guillotine during the Reign of Terror. Related forms: Also, tumbril.

Didn’t watch a minute of it and barely checked Twitter for it. Xsboy had SU badketball on and I was following caps-oilers and pens-flyers on my iPad. Pens flyers was most entertaining of the lot!
If this were the old days before gasoline-powered vehicles, it would take tumbrel after tumbrel to haul away all the garbage and horse manure from the SOTU!!!!
But obama and the enviros want us to stop using so much fossil fuels, so it’s back to tumbrels after all!!!!

Hysterical! And right on target.
Mrs.Truth and I are leaving Texas, home of the tumbreling tumbrelweeds (and 60-70 degree temperatures) and returning home today after a really nice visit with Son #1 and grandkids #1, 3, and 7.
I watched in a sports bar where one silent tv was tuned in. The only other group there was a Spanish speaking group with children. No one was interested in Obama.
