Staubach would have been the #1 overall pick if he didn’t have a 4-5 year Navy commitment.
I lived in Pensacola, FL when Roger played for the NAS Pensacola Goshawks and got to see him play several games.
Big mistake, using multiple draft picks to take one guy is always trouble (just look at division mate Redskins). Bigger mistake letting it be known so early, the price for that pick just climbed.
This does not really anser my question. How about the players who did not win SBs. What teams did they play for and where did they rank at the time they were chosen?
The Patriots were 2 and 12 the season before picking Plunket 1st in the 1st round of the 1971 draft. He was 23 and 38 in his 4 1/2 years with the Patriots from 1971 to 1975. I did not follow football then so I don’t know if the problem was Plunket or the team. He was 70 and 57 with the Raiders and went to 4 post seasons so he must have been at least decent.
Are they keeping Don Henley?
No, they prefer Joe Walsh :):)
A fool and his draft picks are soon parted.
