President Obama will use his State of the Union address to call on Congress to raise taxes and fees on the wealthiest taxpayers and the largest financial firms to finance an array of tax cuts for the middle class, pressing to reshape the tax code to help working families, administration officials said on Saturday.
The proposal faces long odds in the Republican-controlled Congress, led by lawmakers who have long opposed raising taxes and who argue that doing so would hamper economic growth at a time the country cannot afford it. And it was quickly dismissed by leading Republicans as a nonstarter.
But the decision to present the plan during Tuesday's speech marks the start of a debate over taxes and the economy that will shape both Mr. Obama's legacy and the 2016 presidential campaign.
It is also the latest indication that the president, untethered from political constraints after Democratic losses in the midterm elections, is moving aggressively to set the terms of that discussion, even as he pushes audacious moves in other areas, like immigration and relations with Cuba.

Just as I thought, instead of decreasing the middle class tax rate Obama is looking to increase the nightmarish complexity of the tax code by putting in a bunch of social engineering targeted tax credits. Do a trick and get a biscuit like a dog in training.

Obama keeps the eyes of the envious on the “1%”” because that is who he hangs out with, whose luxury homes his wife and children borrow for vacations, and who surrounds him to gush at $25,000 per plate fund raisers. The imagery matches the narrative that these “folks” should be paying a lot more taxes. Idiots all around.
Everything he is floating is designed to make Republicans look bad in 2016. He knows none of it will pass and the Dems can then claim the Repubs are obstructionist, against free education, in the anti-middle class, in the pockets of big business, not for the little guy, yada, yada, yada.
Maybe he’ll scare some Repubs to sign on for his crap.

But 99% of the 1% are the people between $250 and $500, who are NOT his pals.
His pals would HAPPILY pay more taxes to crush the strivers, who are seeking to replace them on the upper rungs and whom they despise.
How about tax cuts on the families that have one working parent. The fact that they want to encourage parents to both work and send children to daycare says the most, because it is all about minimizing parental influence...

Wonder when the ‘free’ press is going to ask ANY elected official to whom does property ($$, in this case) belong? AND, to what degree of a slave do they think is ‘normal’ (all income taxes are slavery taxes).
The 1 percent are not going to be hurt. If they were somehow going to be hurt, there wouldn’t be the support of top CEOs toward Obama like there are, top corporate leaders would be up in arms against him and campaigning against him.
