Well now November 2014's data has been published.

There is now no doubt, we are heading for yet another record trade deficit with China this year.

By a wide margin. Our record trade deficit was 318 billion dollars. Last year.

This year, we still have one entire month to go, and we are already at 314 billion.

What does Thomas Sowell, “the smartest man in the universe” say about trade deficits? Or Milton Friedman, or Hayek, or any and all free market economists?

Bring back American manufacturing.

Easier said than done.

As long as American companies can keep costs down by hiring labor overseas, they will continue to do it.

Is that a good or bad thing? What would Sowell, the “smartest man in the universe” say about it?

That will not happen anytime soon, if ever, as it will drive up the cost of everything. It is more cost efficient to manufacture overseas to take advantage of lower costs (such as labor).

Besides, trying to open factories in America will only encourage the unions - just when we have them on the ropes.

America is doing just fine without the manufacturing jobs.

The two guys most responsible for this are Clinton and Bush. Clinton got paid big bucks. Bush was just a Chamber of Commerce guy.

You are 100% correct, especially about unions. Manufacturing brings together sub-human filth, every one of which “knows” that they’re worth $1 million per hour, and the only reason they’re not getting it is because rich, white, male, capitalists are stealing from them their just wages.

The best way to put a stop to it, is to use an ancient and proven military method method of receding in certain circumstances. Many businesses, after having production facilities established in foreign countries, have participated in regulating against domestic manufacturing starts and often at local government levels.

So recede. Buy Chinese and other foreign products exclusively. I’ll guarantee you that if enough people participate, the problem will be solved quickly. The alternative would be a quicker default process. And whether or not the problem were resolved by those presently in leadership positions, production on American soil would continue in the absence of funding for enforcement against doing work on our own soil. Manufacturing revenues are required for big government.
