Brother Noah of the Monastery of Christ in the Desert in New Mexico says he failed to stay peaceful while dealing with United Airlines on the phone, the New York Times reported.

“I said to her something like: ‘Thank you for speaking. God bless you. I will pray for you. But you have not been helpful,’” he told the broadsheet.

When David Segal, author of "The Haggler" column, suggested this did not sound like much of an outburst, Brother Noah said he knows the tone of his voice “manifested anger.”

You know between the airlines treating and transporting you like cattle and airport security treating you like a terrorist I can’t understand why anyone flies. I sure don’t.

His big test is when he tries to fly Frontier and contacts their customer service.

This eventually led to a return flight, apology, and $350 credit toward future travels.

United Airlines did not immediately return Yahoo News’ requests for comment.

Yahoo News needs more than "a return flight, apology, and $350 credit toward future travels.”

But it is not clear what, and it is not clear why.

Me either.

People are sheep and usually fly once, maybe twice, a year. They get to the airport all excited because they are going to visit Aunt Mae or grandma, so they meekly stand there agape in TSA’s prisoner line and say (I've heard this): “geee, isn't this great! Look at all the security.”

. .things will only get worse.

I only fly because I have to. Not because I want to.

We flew from Seattle to Dallas a week ago, then changed to American Eagle for the 1 hour hop to SGF. When the small jet arrived DFW, a small crack was identified in the windshield. This took 5 minutes to repair.

An entry had to be written in the airplane's logbook, then the logbook had to be hand carried to some other location away from DFW. This was supposedly to make an entry in AA’s big mother log book.

This took two and a half hours, while we sat on the airplane.

What the hell was that all about ?

Maybe something slipped through the crack?

This is how most people speak these day now. Saying such words is considered not helpful to the situation and a personal attack. People have become Dr. Spock whereby if someone drops their drawers and craps in the middle of the living room you are supposed to praise them for their work and encourage them to make the bathroom next time.

Compare this monk’s “outburst” with outbursts from high-level practitioners of “other religeons.” Therein lies the proof of which path to take, if what you seek is truly inner peace.

I’ll take Monk for $1000, Alex. And pass me the meditation, please.

CodeToad there’s your problem! Being a conservative someone takes a dump in the middle of your living room its a mess a Liberal would thank the person for the new art. ;-)

Job protections by the union. Could be done electronically but hey, that would mean dropping several people doing nothing but running paperwork from one location/person to another.

Not sure, but it is a very good reason to avoid the cramped puddlejumpers, much less the ‘contract carrier’ like American Eagle. The second tier airlines are guaranteed to be “not helpful”.
