George P. Bush took office as state land commissioner in a low-key ceremony at the Texas Capitol on Friday.

-

I don't yet know a whole lot about George P. Bush, but he seems (far) more electable than his father.

Jeb should stand aside, and let his son take the lead.

Last November, he crushed former El Paso Mayor John Cook, a Democrat, to win the office, which manages Texas’ vast land holdings and oversees coastline protection and veterans’ programs.

I didn’t vote for him, left the square blank.

Enough Bushes. I don’t need a dynasty or name brand.

I totally agree with the dynasty thing...but he’s the one single Bush who has ever publicly embraced the conservative base - he says good things about Tea Party based on what I’ve seen.....

then again, if you’re in Texas, you probably know more about that than I....

thanks for noting that. This is a powerful position sans the pomp of some offices.

I voted for a challenger in the primary but I don’t recall who off the top of my head. I wasn’t going to vote against him in the general election.

Taking a wait and see attitude but certainly not voting for someone just because of the family name.

George P ran against David Watts of Longview in the GOP primary and won 73% to 27%.
He then defeated Democrat John Cook in the General with 61% of the vote.

More than his own ego, Geo. P. is why Jeb is noising about running for President. He needs to in order to keep the Bush band together until Geo. P.’s time. He’s afraid that the swarm of mailgnant one-world statists that fund the Bush operation will drift off to other homes before Geo. P. is ready if there isn’t another Bush campaign now to bridge the gap.

There are over 300 million people in the USA. Not all politicians need to be named Bush.

Jeb’s son is a poster for political corruption.
Required to practice business in Texas to qualify to run for office, he had his name added to the door of a Dallas legal firm while residing out of state.

He is a disgusting POS.

Doesn’t seem fair to hold GP’s name and family against him.

But then it’s also ludicrous to tout him as a presidential candidate based on those same things. Let him spend a decade or so proving himself and then I’d consider him.

We have 315M people in this country, and there’s a quite decent chance that the 2016 election will be a Clinton vs a Bush.

How weird is that?

“he’s the one single Bush who has ever publicly embraced the conservative base”

Only while it’s convenient for him. The further up the latter
he goes the more distant he’ll become. Just like the rest
of his socialist posing family. He’s a Bush, he’s just
playing his part posing as a false sense of opposition to
the steady march to communism and the new world order.
The Bushes are just like Obama, absolute frauds.

Maybe he will, maybe he won’t. I’m certainly not invested in him staying true to what he says today. I don’t vote in Texas and I doubt I’ll ever vote for another Bush in my life.

HOWEVER - I don’t need to borrow misery either, by assuming the worst always. The fact remains: he is the only Bush to publicly praise the Tea Party. Period. Doesn’t mean he will always mean it, but he is the only one so far. Jeb has done the opposite in the past two weeks.

I think George P. is just another moderate. Why do I think that? We’re talking about dynasties. Has anyone ever seen or heard a member of the Kennedy family speak out against or repudiate the Democratic Party and liberalism? No. Well, on the flipside we’ve seen three members of the Bush family in high office and they’ve all been centrists. I think George P. will be heavily influenced politically by his dad, uncle, and grandpa. I don’t see him as a “rock” the boat type person.

Jeb should stand aside, and let his son take the lead.

A statement like that is appropriate in a country with a hereditary monarchy. But in a republic it is at least mildly offensive.

Even with savings, Medicare’s financial hole grew $1.8 trillion last year, more than the federal deficit. One bit of good news: The prescription drug benefit is now projected to be underfunded by $5.3 trillion, less than the original projection in 2005 of $6.7 trillion. Reason: smaller drug price increase and increased use of cheaper generic drugs.

I think Baby Bush would be more politically comfortable with his Uncle Bill and his Castro cousins in San Antonia.

Never leave a blank. Some rat will come in later when they are counting the votes and fill in what he wants to. We voted for the Libertarian. We are tired of bushes.

Never leave a blank, just do a write-in if nothing else to stop their cheating. I learned this from a new jersey democrat!
