Definitely have seen that especially in rental cars. btw years ago some cars had the gas door in the back—you’d pull down the license plate and insert the nozzle in the hole. Don’t know if some cars have the gas hole in the back

I can feel a little sympathy for her. A number of years ago I participated in a "ride" out west in all new front-wheel-drive luxury cars for a US auto company. The participants were all experienced engineers, managers, and executives for the company. Many were attired in semi-race attire, driving gloves, leather vests, etc. The cars were mostly prototypes, not yet in production, which had the "luxury" of a remote electric button in the glove box to release the gas door.

When we arrived at the first gas station, we realized one of the cars had the entire glove box removed and recording devices were placed there instead. The gas door button was missing. All of the participants gathered around the car to analyze the problem. One crawled under the instrument panel to see if the button might be dangling down below. He even removed his driving gloves to aid in feeling for the button.

The tall lanky station attendant strolled over to see if he could help. He looked like the only thing missing was a wheat stem between his teeth. The problem was patronizingly described to him. He then wandered back to the gas door, looked at it, and then popped it open with his finger.

I can sympathize with not knowing the secret to unlocking the door, and I can sympathize with pulling up on the wrong side of the pump the first time. But when you need 5 tries to pull up on the correct side, you should rethink whether you are qualified to drive.

The little arrow is standard in the EU. Does come in handy for years after you change car.
Putting the filler port in the back makes so much sense.
Doesn’t matter which side the pump is on...happy days.

Since she gets out of what would be the passenger side door in the US or Canada, she is probably in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, or Ireland.

No, our cars have petrol hatches.
