The Husband and I just finished the obligatory, annual viewing of George C. Scott in "A Christmas Carol". (That's my husband's favorite; I sort of favor the Patrick Stewart version....)
The story never fails to move me. Whenever we attempt to get outside of our 'small' selves, and extend love toward others, we grow, and make ourselves more fit for the Kingdom.
God Bless us Every One; and a Very Merry Christmas, to all Freepers. All of you have taught me, and inspired me, over many years - even though I only 'joined-up' and began posting a short while ago.
(Now, we have to shake the Jingle Bells outside the window, for the neighborhood kids; and then, to Bed, so Santa doesn't catch us awake!)

The original (1938) version and the one with George C. Scott are my favorites. Scott, in my opinion, gave a better performance ...
I’ve always favored the Brit 1951 version with Alastair Sim but they are all great.
I like the Patrick Stewart version too.
I like it for the production values; but it’s funny - my husband is younger than I am, and he’s a HUGE fan of Star Trek - Next Gen. But, he prefers the George C. Scott.
Merry Christmas,
JT
I just finished watching that one ... just seemed to be missing something. It was like they were trying to jam three hours of story into 90 minutes. I know this is not true, just the impression I get every time I watch this version.
Scott gives the best performance. He hit the right balance and plays the Scrooge perfectly. Everyone else over acts the part to some extend. Scott’s interaction with the ghost is as well superior. And his supporting players to me seem as if they walked right out of the novel!
Merry Christmas and God bless us! Everyone!
I don’t know that one; but you got me to thinking about Christmas television shows and movies.
I think my absolute favorite Santa, in TV and movies, is Art Carney in the Twilight Zone episode “The Night of the Meek”.
Sci-Fi channel traditionally runs the Twilight Zone during the week after Christmas; watching it is another of our traditions, because I fondly remember it from my childhood.
Merry Christmas! (Fireworks going off here, in the barrio - and this elf needs sleep!)
Blessings!

For me, it’s the Welsh miner with the great tenor voice singing “Silent Night”
Trouble is you can tell where the commercial breaks should occur. :-)
But I still like it.
To me, George C Scott is Patton, not Scrooge
