Federal officials have moved closer to overturning a decades-old ban on blood donations from gay and bisexual men, but activists say the proposed alternative would continue to stigmatize men who have sex with men.
The Food and Drug Administration said Tuesday it will recommend lifting the lifetime ban early next year, replacing it with a policy barring donations from men who have had sex with another man in the previous 12 months. The change would overturn a 31-year-old policy that many medical groups and gay activists say is no longer justified, given advances in HIV testing.
But activists questioned whether requiring a year of celibacy from gay men amounted to a significant policy shift. …

FYI some blood banks and hospitals will let you donate your blood with your name on the bottle so if you need it back then you get your own and not some Aids-infected druggie’s blood
(it works better anyway ... no risk of mis-matches or other problems, this is actually a recommended procedure and not just an aids-reaction)

My dog is a blood donor and probably has to go through more screening than the fags will. We are so screwed.

Well, since Obamacare cuts costs by restricting services, this should reduce the demand on blood products. Restrict what you can, and contaminate what you can’t restrict. The rest takes care of itself.

That’s funny. A government that supports hedonism wants celibacy. And that same lying government wants people not to lie about their supposed celibacy. This is stupid on all levels.
And yet I, a former routine O-neg donor, am permanently banned because I served on active duty in the Republic of Turkey.

Let’s not forget the AIDS tainted blood from the Arkansas Prison System under the governorship of Bill Clinton. Lots of innocent people died from that.

And everything else. This country is at war on two fronts: Radical Islam and liberalism. It’s going to be curious to see how far people are going to let this go before they take up arms and we enter into another Civil war. I think once people start losing their homes and their internet then they’ll start. It will be an extremely short war though, probably no more than a few hours because there is not a cop or military vet alive who supports these leftist sh*tbags.

This change would allow Obama to donate blood now. Currently anyone who has engaged in sex with another man is banned from donating blood. So that would certainly include Obama, right?
It’s been going on since the sixties! Liberals have been a direct problem for at least 50 years.
No one will do anything to stop it because no one wants to put their livelihood at risk.

Yes they do. The case of the late Kimberly Bergalis, who contracted it from David J. Acer, her sodomite dentist who had AIDS is just one example.
Unfortunately the real story was whitewashed and swept under the rug. By the time they tracked the source and method of the infection the dentist was dead and the real story was forgotten.(For the record: he infected her on purpose. Figured if heteros started getting it more research would be done to find a cure)
Statistically, my blood is safer than theirs, yet I can’t donate. I was stationed in Europe until Jul of 1980. because of mad cow disease, anyone not back in the States by 31 June 1980 cannot donate blood. I missed the cutoff by 2 weeks, over 34 years ago, yet my blood is unsafe....
