There is not constitutional inalienable right to operate heavy machinery while intoxicated.

Nice straw man. No one said anything about a right to smoke pot and operate heavy machinery.

Don’t you know. Responsible people do what he tells you to. How can you be responsible if you decide for yourself what to do? Some people!

Where are the beer permits?

Beer is one of the beverages of choice of the Green Berets and SEALs, snipers and Boomer captains, nuclear weapons generals, and Presidents with their fingers on the button.

I thought it only disqualified you if you were “addicted” to marijuana, not simply a user.

But the consequences of being in possession of either are too damn severe in our police state.

Meh...the consequences of putting a signature on the Declaration of Independence were death. Why are we not living up to the Founder's legacy?

I guess I was wrong. Here is the question of the ATF purchase form:

e. Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?

Or rather the consequence was death, but the Founders still signed it. Why are we suddenly pussing out? Do we somehow have more to lose than the Founders did?

Since "None of your damned big government nanny state business" isn't an option, I've always chose "NO". =D

Good questions.

Probably, in my case, that its ‘pick your battles’

Or because I'm a pussy.

Probably both :-(

If anyone has a revolution planned, they aren't telling me about it, so not being in a position to be anything other than some mild amusement for a second rate SWAT team in terms of resistance I can offer my best course of action is to organize, vote and otherwise work within the system, however much I would rather be taking more direct action.

Freegards...

I don't think anyone who uses psychotropic drugs should be allowed anywhere near firearms.

My copy of the Constitution does not seem to mention any class of people who can be debarred the use of arms. "Shall not be infringed" means just what it says. Anyone who can not be trusted to be armed should not be running around loose, anyway.

If you can legally own the dammed gun, you should be able to carry it in any way you please, where you are permitted to do so.

My copy of the Constitution doesn't seem to mention locations where the right can be infringed upon.

Well, I think it's not just you, but all of us - even the most ardent "patriots" amongst us. Somehow, we've determined we have far more to lose than the Founders did, unfortunately. You are not alone in it. I have issues. I skirt certain things from time to time, but you're right. But, we need to stand. We need to do it now, before we can no longer pick our battles and are forced into something much more painful.

What?!?! It doesn't say shall not be infringed as long as you have a permit? Or, shall not be infringed, as long as you have a background check? /sarc

"My copy of the Constitution doesn't seem to mention locations where the right can be infringed upon."

Really?

Your lack of thought/reasoning in your advocacy(which I agree with on principle) really reflects bad on US all....

I believe personal property rights trumps Constitutional rights.

In other words, you don't have 1st Amendment rights in my house, because I can throw your ass out if you say something I don't agree with. At the same time, if I don't want someone to have a gun in my house, they won't have it, or I'll also throw their asses out(or shoot them).

Do you believe someone has a right to have a gun in YOUR house, even if you don't want them to? Should they be able to challenge you in court and win? (go back to school....)

You have every right in the world to deny me entry to your home, with or without a weapon, for any reason or for no reason. And I have the same right to deny you entry to mine. The phrase "where you are permitted to do so" (to me) means GOVERNMENT PERMISSION, and that was the target of my response. The Constitution sets limits on the government, not on individual rights.

Then this is a simple misunderstanding of context.

When I said “Permitted to do so”, I was implying instances of personal property, and perhaps courtrooms, but that could be open to honest debate.

I probably should have been more specific in my initial remarks, and apologize.
