The Detroit chapter of the Satanic Temple set up its “Snaketivity Scene” featuring a snake offering a book called “Revolt of the Angels” as a gift. The snake is wrapped around the Satanic cross on the 3-feet-by-3-feet display. Capitol rules require that displays have to be taken down each night.

In a videotaped interview with the Lansing State Journal, Satanic Temple spokeswoman Jex Blackmore said her group doesn’t worship Satan but does promote individuality, compassion and views that differ from Christian and conservative beliefs. …

I find it hard to believe that some of the people that put up the Satanic display served in the military overseas...I wonder if that would turn out to be the truth if checks were conducted...anyone can say just about anything. Doesn’t mean they’re telling the truth...

“A few of my friends in the military, we like to see the First Amendment in use,” Diller said. “We all went overseas, we fought for it, it’s kind of interesting to see it in action.”

America does not go to war for the Satanists.

While serving in Germany I knew a few pagans. I think it was mostly about having sex and acting weird.

Your either with God or against him. Weather they worship satan or not, the display they erect, glorifies him.

Since it’s Detroit can the display be complete without an AMC Gremlin?

Satanic Temple spokeswoman Jex Blackmore said her group doesn’t worship Satan but...

Then it shouldn't have been allowed as a religious expression.

And the damned legislature should deem Satan as the antithesis of the worship of God, and therefore outside of the purpose, definition and intent of the 1st Amendment.

These @ssh@les need to be told NO.

unfortunately, what you propose, while I agree, would be ruled an unconstitutional violation of the 1st Amendment.

The Church of Satan is a legally recognized religious group.

Disgusting but true.

Hopefully the people erecting this display will experience the grace of God in their lives and repent.

Attention seekers.

I don't think any group puts a display on the capitol grounds because they're trying to shy away from attention.

So is Islam.

The question is how the Founding Fathers would deal with both.

Satan’s greatest and most successful lie has been that he doesn’t exist. Perhaps if people believe in fallen angels maybe we convince them of God

The Church of Satan is a legally recognized religious group.

And Jews were legally recognized non-humans in Nazi Germany.

But, I acknowledge your point.

for Satanists, I believe they would have resorted to shunning, and other societal pressures to produce the desired change in behavior.

As for Islamists, they would have used the treason statue as sharia is blatantly unconstitutional and threatens the very structure of this nation.

JMHO
