Active X is nearly two decades old. It is now public domain, as are many browsers. When originally released it had problems with exploitation since it allowed much more versatile web usage. It is now no more, or less problematic than any other such versatile usages. You can always turn Active X off if you want to only read simple web pages.

Did you get the help you needed?

I have used FF for a long time, from W/98 to XP to Vista to W/8.1 and now run it on Windows 10 preview, and it was compatible with them all. What it sounds like however is that you have a Internet connection problem.

Can you connect with Internet Explorer?

I can connect fine with IE and I have the latest version of that. I have used FF for as long as I can remember!!

I got the browser to work and now the Adobe Flash Player keeps crashing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and have the latest version.

I have checked for malware and viruses and I have none.

I am stumped.

Use Internet Explorer. Microsoft products are designed to work together. Why would you want to want to use Fire Fox products when their developers are so anti-conservative?

The anti-conservative reaction was an abomination, and akin to sanctioning bad coding, and i told them so. Yet I do not think MS is much different, and as a company they act more as liberals, as in "we know better than you what options, if any, are best for you," while Firefox/Pale Moon works more like free enterprise, with a multitude of persons having much freedom to contribute better the product.

For the power user, FF is superior to all others in my opinion. Even Chrome does not allow multiple tab rows, and the ability to reduce the width, change how many closed tabs to remember (TabMixPlus) and change the color (Colorfull Tabs) save sessions (Session Manager) c add coding to comboxes as this via right click (bbcodextra), convert metric and currency to standard and USD (Converter), etc. plus the multiplicity of themes. etc.

But use what you want. Thank God we have choices and variety, and not just a GI browser!

I got the browser to work and now the Adobe Flash Player keeps crashing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and have the latest version.

Adobe has issues many people complain about, but they basically have a monopoly.

Did you try going to Help (right click on the right upper corner and check Menu bar to find that easier) and choose Troubleshooting info, and then hit Reset Firefox?

And or create a new profile. Close FF and then right click on the FF icon on your Desktop, and then hit Properties. Then look in Target and paste

-no-remote -p

to the end of the string, so it looks like

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -no-remote -p

(64 bit) or

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -no-remote -p

(32 bit)

Then launch FF from the icon and you should see an option to Create a new profile. Do so and then use that. If you want to copy things like your bookmarks, dictionary, passwords etc. to the new browser than can be done also.

If could be hard drive corruption or other issues. You could look for errors in the Event viewer. Hold down the Windows key and the r key together and let go, then paste eventvwr.msc in the Run command that comes up. Then under Custom view hit Administrative and look for the red flags. Don't be suprised if there are many, but see if any coincides with your problem.

What are your computer specs? In the Run command you can paste msinfo32 and see the cpu and memory info, which can be helpful.

Also, holding and releasing together the ctrl, alt, delete keys will give you an option to start the Task Manager (or taskmgr in the Run command), which will tell you what is eating up most of your cpu cycles (oftengood for spotting malware) and ram.

Hope it helps. May we do all to God's glory!

I will flatly disagree - As a residential/SOHO pooter tech I see the difference all the time. It is still the case that folks who use IE get way more bugs, hands down. Just finished one of those yesterday - A new client with no 'street smarts'... I guarantee that when my phone meet occurs with him 2 weeks from now, to walk him through the use of the scanners I put onto his box, his viral load will be substantially diminished... And the only real difference in the interim is that he will be using FF and Java instead of IE and ActiveX.

Is ActieX better than it was? Sure. I'll give you that - But that really isn't saying much.

If you have determined that flash is the problem, then perhaps your installed Flash is not up to date - Or you don't have the proper Flash for FF - There are two (actually three) Flash installations you know - One (the main one) for IE/ActiveX, and another separate installation for Non-IE, which Firefox will require.

Control Panel =>Flash Player (32 bit) [Advanced tab]. Find version info near the bottom of the dialog.

Should have ActiveX version and NPAPI version installed. Note version numbers, then poke 'check now' to compare to current versions. Proceed accordingly.

Oh it was up to date!!! I have everything that was/is required for both FF and IE. IE was never a problem, This issue only happened since the FF update the other day. And yes, every add on, etc were/are up to date.

I have heard others are complaining about many issues since this latest FF update as well.

Note that I didn't men to talk down to you - Even after years of computer repair, it is still the stupid stuff that gets me... Like the other day trying to fix a box with sporadic update problems.. Spent tons of time on it before I checked machine time - sure enough, time was off... And I know better. It's them little things that get you, every time : )

I tried that and it would not let me go back to an earlier version. It’s okay...the main thing is I got it working again and I am happy. It was so frustrating yesterday and I was relieved to find a solution after a lot of research.

FYI, many places archive older software versions (filehippo.com for instance)- Would have meant backing up your profile and uninstalling FF, Installing the older version, and turning updates off. PIA, but doable... If it comes up again somehow (w/ FF or other), it is a good thing to keep in mind.

Glad it is all sorted. Have a great day!

Interesting, esp since the latest update to FF 34 broke Flashblock. But i thought your problem was with connecting to the Internet at all.

Get Firefox 33 here>>> http://www.softexia.com/internet-tools/browsing/firefox-33/

Install over Firefox 34. Yes you will keep all bookmarks but you can back them up anyways. Then be sure to turn off automatic updates via>>>>>>

tools (on firefox browser)>>>
options >>>>
advanced tab on far right>>>>
turn off updates

****** I did all this the other day because Firefox 34 is not compatible with Flashblock. So I will use #33 until this is resolved

Ahh..sorry if I confused you. When I can’t get my browser to work, drives me crazy!!!

I can connect fine to the internet, it is FF and flash player that caused the problem.
