The Benefits of Being Politically Correct

When people bring up political correctness, they’re often talking about how much they hate it. Unlike, say, “diversity” or “inclusion,” the term is perhaps most frequently used by those who object to what it stands for, who feel that calls to change the way they speak harm them or society in some way.

These objections inspired Jack Goncalo, a professor of organizational behavior at Cornell, and his team to study the actual effects of political correctness. They’d heard “this idea that the effort to be P.C. is somehow inherently stifling, and that it’s a threat to freedom of speech, and that it’s contrary to the First Amendment,” as Dr. Goncalo put it, and they wanted to test whether thinking about being P.C. would really dampen people’s creativity — or whether it might augment it.

In the comment section, you will see "valiant" efforts by hardcore liberals to fend off many anti-PC detractors, who dissect the findings in the article and point out how ludicrous they are.

PC is anti nature. It is the denial of truth.

You can only “list” examples of political correctness that make (in some way) sense to you, but increasingly PC is in the mind of perpetually aggrieved people who completely ignore reality and try to force those around them to walk on eggshells. It does take creativity to step outside of yourself and to try to see things from the perspective of others, that’s just being polite. I think though, that PC crosses back and forth between good manners and a sort of societal co-dependency. In extreme case it is exactly like being married to some sort of substance abuser or drunk with all the arbitrary rules and punishments for made up infractions.

sort of substance abuser or drunk

They sow a majority of people in a society with inborn guilt(being a male for example.) They force these people to atone for it. Not once. They continually arbitrarily invent new instance of infraction which those people atone for. They want to always keep them in short leash. They want to control your attitude, taste, and thinking.

Rule No. 1 to break yourself free: Do not feel guilty.

Last night there was a post here, an editorial from Dartmouth saying that the first amendment free speech should be curtailed and that more laws should be passed to restrict racist or hate speech.

Now this editorial.

Sounds like a pre-invasion bombardment has begun. Word must have gone out from party headquarters that this is their next move. They are beginning the softening up phase where we are just “discussing” it.

an editorial from Dartmouth

Those academics in campus. Brainwash and incite students to do their bidding. Unleash them against the society and set it on fire. Then watch the whole spectacle from the distance. They are pyromaniacs.

PC was invented by Marxists to destroy America by rotting it from within. That one fact alone should make anyone who is not a hardcore commie blatantly reject it along with all the diversity BS that goes with it.

For more information, bing Frankfurt school and cultural Marxism.

We've gone from Freedom OF religion all the way to Freedom FROM religion.
That part of the First Amendment is largely gone.

The Second Amendment has been gutted, along with most of the rest of the Bill Of Rights.

Now it's time for Freedom of Speech. You can say whatever you want -- as long as it pleases your overlords. Just don't cross the line, or there will be trouble!

PC is Marxists’ last war. Does not mean it is less dangerous. It could do as much damage as communism.

Dartmouth went full bore PC in the 1980’s. Read “Poisoned Ivy”, 1987 to see what they did to their hockey team the Dartmouth Indians just for starters.

Their faculty are best described as Stalinist.

You know I think you have put your finger on the problem, being polite is one thing but collective guilt for the sin of existing is another matter altogether.

“Politically Correct” was a term coined by anti-statists in the late 80s or early 90s as a derisive way to describe statist liberals and their Marxist-Leninist code of conduct. It was meant to shame liberals.

It is true that, among non-political folks, the label of being a “feminist” or “politically correct” is toxic. Such a label makes one a kind of tarbaby you should not touch and stay away. The committed don't look shamed so far, and they still shepherd a huge herd of sheeple. I think PC is Marxists’ last front, and they won't go down quietly.

The “politically correct” phenomenon boils down to a desire by the “elite” among us to enforce group-think (or, minimize individualism). It is intolerance in the name of tolerance.

When I was a young man, I understood that there would be people who had opinions (beliefs) different from my own, but had been taught to adopt the attitude of tolerance in the name of free speech.

We often heard people say “I vehemently disagree with what he said, but will defend with my life his right to say it”, or something similar. At the same time, we seemed to have the ability to discern when a “line” had been crossed, that we would not tolerate so easily (eg speech that attempted to incite to riot, or was libelous, etc).

Now, it has often become an attitude of judging one’s heart and eschewing tolerance for intolerance: “I vehemently disagree with what he said (believes), his heart is full of hate, and I will do what I can to punish him for saying (believing) it”.

This “politically correct” attitude has no place in a free and open society.

To them, freedom of speech is only a vehicle to promote their agenda and eclipse their "enemies." Once they are in the driver sear, no other opinion can be tolerated. The same way communists used democracy to advance their power, only to wipe it out once they take over.

It is a kind of funny to watch silicone valley geeks swallowing PC-crap hook-line-and-sinker. They are typical useful idiots.
