As I mentioned in a thread Friday, those of you anxiously awaiting the Executive Order may be disappointed. See the attached PDF. I predicted that what the *resident was doing was just giving a nod to his minions to interpret the law in the most generous way possible. And here you have it, the new directions from Jeh Johnson pretty well cease enforcement of deportations for anyone here already. It's all written to carefully follow the current law, but everything is now conditional on "available resources", which as you can probably predict will be otherwise engaged.
Next up: some kind of memo laying out the relaxation of rules governing the issue of resident alien visas (Green Cards), probably to "ease the backlog of processing"?. From hereon, laws are going to be pretty damned flexible.
and the next President can do the exact opposite
