Manila (AsiaNews / Agencies) - The Philippine government has launched an appeal to hundreds of their fellow citizens, urging them to abandon the nations of West Africa, hit by the Ebola outbreak. Manila also added that all workers overseas or those coming from countries where the virus has developed will be subjected to a quarantine of 21 days, the maximum time required for symptoms to manifest. The Philippine Foreign Minister

Albert del Rosario states the government has started a "voluntary repatriation" program for 900 workers present in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone, where the epidemic first broke out.

Interviewed by the Philippine ABS-CBN television the Minister said that President Benigno Aquino had also ordered those who did return would have to be isolated in a government facility undergoing a 21-day quarantine. With 10 million Filipinos working abroad, the country is "very vulnerable" amid the outbreak of the killer disease.

The Philippine government follows a provision has already taken place in recent weeks by the United States, which has ordered the quarantine of persons considered to be at risk; However, the measure raises serious doubts and disputes concerning violation of human rights.

“... 21 days, the maximum time required for symptoms to manifest.”

I’ve seen the graphs, couple of straglers there at 42 days.
But then again if we’re not even going to quarantine to 21 days, then, at this point what does it matter?/s

We will not quarantine any one who had direct access with ebola patients.

However, we will quarantine our soldiers who don’t a have contact.

IIRC, the Ebola Reston virus was traced to monkeys from the Philippines.

There is no PC in the Philippines, so they will do the right thing. I am so TOTALLY cynical of the Obungler, that I believe it is possible they wouldn't mind seeing an epidemic of Ebola in America. They have been looking for a mass crisis for quite some time. I believe they would gladly sacrifice thousands or millions, just to have a crisis that they could exploit for their own political ends.

There USED to be “PC” in the Philippines: The Philippine Constabulary.

Yes, but were the Philppine PC into PC? I don't know. Always outnumbered, but never outfought. In Vietnam, they were called QC, and it didn't mean quality control. I honestly believe Obama would not care if many Americans were infected by Ebola, President Aquino would.
