Dale Dorman, a Boston radio legend who began his career playing top 40s hits in the 1960s and 1970s, and then played the same songs as oldies to the rock 'n roll generation, died Tuesday, his family said.
Dorman, 71, of Tewksbury, died at home after a long illness. A private service for family and friends was held Friday.
Dorman came to Boston in 1968, working at WRKO for 10 years. He worked at KISS 108 for over 20 years and finished his career at WODS.
His nickname, "Uncle Dale" was given to him by listeners when he was just 21.

Dale Dorman (1968)
He was a huge presence for a lot of years.
RIP
I remember him very well.
RIP.
Interesting to see this as I am listening to Avi Nelson on WRKO. Jess Cain, Jerry Williams, David Brudnoy...many good guys have gone. Some like Dave MacNeil at WCRB have just vanished.
I remember songs like "Night Chicago Died", "Seasons In The Sun", "Billy, Don't Be A Hero", "Beach Baby" and "You're Having My Baby" among hundreds of other "lost" 1970s hits that for at least a few weeks played endlessly on WRKO. So now, for better or worse, they are etched in my brain forever.
OMG
1974 was a bad music year
Come Back when you grow up girl, you’re still living in a paperdoll world...
1960’s
Dream On..AeroSmith..radio version..1970’s
Yep, I remember too. If you didn’t know the words to the song, it wasn’t long before you did!
That guy was The Man. Then Charles Laquidara.
All radio stations had, and still have, short play lists. When I was a dee jay I got sick of just about every song. Other dee jays said they did, too.
RIP.
#7 I would say worse.... ugh.
