A record 92,584,000 Americans 16 and older did not participate in the labor force in September, as the labor force participation rate dropped to 62.7 percent, a level it has not seen in 36 years, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on Friday.

Six times in the last twelve months, the participation rate has been as low as 62.8 percent; but September’s 62.7 percent is the lowest since February of 1978.

The participation rate is the percentage of the civilian non-institutional population who participated in the labor force by either having a job or actively seeking one. Those not in the labor force are those who not only did not have a job, but they did not actively seek one in the last four weeks. …

In states like North Carolina, if Republicans want to turn this election into a defeat of the Obama robot (96% approval of his every policy), Kay Hagan, then they need to begin pushing these realities of the economic and real-life consequences of the Trojan Horse government takeover called "Obamacare."

In a few months, when she has lied her way back into her Senate Seat and is helping him complete his "transformation," will be too late.

Today, and over the next three weeks, TV commercials need to hit her with her oft-repeated "If you like your doctor. . . .," and the facts surrounding cancer patients who lost their good coverage, and the doubling and tripling costs of premiums under the Hagan/Obama travesty called "Obamacare."

I am hearing people on the left suggesting the number is rising due to baby boomers retiring and thus leaving the workforce. Is there any truth to this?

That’s what the labor department is claiming. But since they’re the government, they have to be taken with a grain of salt.

No. I believe the percentage of older people in the workforce is increasing. The decrease seems to be among younger people. FReepers will know for sure!

So, the last time was when Jimmuh was president. I was too little then, but I heard a lot of stuff about it from my parents.

You be the judge.

And that’s how the commie libs get their goofy “unemployment rate” figure down to 5.9%. Although most commie libs don’t know how numbers work, they love to play with them.

There is one big problem, which neither political party is willing to say a single word about:

Millions of formerly American jobs, are now in China.

Bring back jobs to America.

One of our political parties needs badly, to step up and say this, and run on this issue.

GOP please be this party. Be for Americans, working.

They haven’t been that party, especially since the end of WWII. Looking at how presidents like Eisenhower, Nixon and both Bushes grew government at the expense of native industry bears that out. Man who trusts in man is cursed.

That's my point. The sponsors of what you call "squishy" ads need to get their act together and hit hard on facts like the real harm Obamacare has done and is about to do to the economy and the real lives of people in her State of North Carolina and the nation.

The teachers' unions are hitting Tillis hard and dishonestly because Republicans in the Legislature tried to do some education reforms. The timid ads in respond to those charges won't get rid of Hagan, but the heartbreaking stories of cancer patients and family victims of Obamacare, plus the economic disasters about be inflicted on families because of Hagan's unqualified promotion of and vote for that monstrosity could help to defeat her.

The last 2 weeks should replay her unqualified support of the lie, "If you like . . . ." and her robot-like adoration of the Obama policies.

The R’s have got to stop playing games and feigning disgust.
Take a page out of the D’s book...

Take excerpts of BO ‘speeches’ (Lord knows he does one a day that WE are privy to) and show the various candidates in ‘lock step’ with BO and his policies.
Wear the hell out of the ‘If you don’t pass it, you will never know what is in it’ line.

“THEY” accuse “US” of being ‘insensitive’ by calling ‘Illegal Aliens’ Illegal Aliens because ‘they are people and thus must be treated like people’....
Flip that on them by running those lines along with the scores that are ‘eliminated’ by Abortion.
It is ‘OK’ for them to not recognize people because they have ‘given up’ etc or went from unemployment to a ‘protected class’ of being disabled.....”My disability is I am stressed out by having to draw unemployment for 99 weeks and now I may have to get a job”....”NO problem, just fill out this form and pick up your check from ...OH YEAH, Social Security has plenty of money.....etc etc....

Also seeing where some courts are allowing(?) municipalities etc to default on retirement packages...Like everything else, the ‘KIDS’ that grew up under that ‘security blanket’ now want it stopped....NOT from MY FAMILY (You don’t expect me to take care of my family now do you?)- naturally - but the other guy should not get it....

The ratio of those over 55 in the workforce actually ticked up’—in other words, older Americans are being forced to return to work in a poor economy to make ends meet while many younger Americans simply aren’t working at all.
