I don’t think the U.S. will launch nukes after the fallout Hiroshima and Nagasaki but I do think North Korea and Iran are chomping at the bit to try out their new toys. I do think Russia would arm ISIS or similar middle eastern groups with nukes if the price were right if they haven’t already. What we have are a bunch of kids with matches that are playing around some gas pumps that are fascinated with fire. It’s not going to be pretty if they decide to light a match...

If the leftist elites truly thought their power was in danger they would pull out all the stops. They do not have to deal decisively with terrorists because they are not a threat to what the left wants. If the Obama regime, or whatever leftist is in power in the future, truly feels its power threatened you will see all options on the table including nuclear and chemical.

I think David Axe has no idea when China intends to fight, or how they intend to win.

I don’t see China making war on their best customer. We buy practically all of our stuff from them.

I look around me at the fat bloated co-workers who aren’t even following these events...

our youngest are spoiled pampered brats.. for the most part.. we have some warriors, but not near enough..

Look, these young people couldn’t even go a day without their smartphones, how well do you think they would do with the sacrifices required on the battlefield?

they could beat us on the battlefield. absolutely.

that said, why do they need to beat us on the battlefield? they can own us lock stock and barrel, own all our companies, own our land... they can be our landlord, why the heck do they need to do it any other way...

I fear for the future, with these spoiled, rich pampered young...

we need a required draft, as Israel has.... required for all...2 years service

I’m not sure they need to fight us....But I do see them waltzing into Taiwan and us not doing a thing about it besides some ignored bluster.

It depends what do you mean by ‘to defeat US’. Chinese military might is heavily overestimated right now. It is not in a position to defeat Vietnam or Indonesia for sure, but once again what do you mean by ‘to defeat US’? As far as we aren’t talking about an all-out war, China is most likely may defeat certain US objective such as a protection of Taiwan.
For example China is actively shopping by a new S-400 air defences. Being deployed in mainland China it has a shotdown capability over the whole Taiwanese airspace. Nobody would have seriously consider to sell the system to the Chinese just a year ago, but Russian developer was sanctioned by both US and EU, they can’t sell to their European customers and their stocks are down. I think they can take the risk of reserve engineering and sell to the Chinese.

“I don’t see China making war on their best customer.”

We are no longer their best customer; Europe is.

“I don’t think the U.S. will launch nukes after the fallout Hiroshima and Nagasaki”

That fallout dissipated quickly and only went a few hundred miles downwind. Very trivial.

On the eve of Pearl Harbor, the US was Japan's largest trading partner.

On the eve of Hitler's invasion of France in WWII, France was Germany's largest trading partner.

I'm just sayin'.

One enormous difference: China wants hegemony, WWII Germany and Japan wanted imperial expansion. Germany wanted to rule Europe, Japan wanted to rule Asia. China wants to rule China--which it defines broadly to include Taiwan and perhaps Indochina--but it doesn't want to rule, say, Thailand, India, Korea, or Siberia, it just wants to be the alpha dog in the pack. That doesn't mean that China will never be imperialist; it simply means that there isn't the proclivity to imperialism in China, and there hasn't been at least since the Chin unified the warring states.

I’m referring to the political fallout and how it made the rest of the world view the U.S. because of the dropping of those bombs into civilian areas....
