Joan Rivers’ personal doctor snapped a selfie while the comedian was under anesthesia and the physician was about to perform an unauthorized biopsy that led to her fatal cardiac arrest, a report said Tuesday.
The doctor took the photo in the procedure room at Manhattan’s Yorkville Endoscopy before performing the procedure on Rivers’ vocal cords, according to CNN.
A staffer at the clinic told investigators about the doctor’s behavior, the cable-TV network said. …

How old was this “Doctor” 15? Melissa Rivers has huge grounds for a lawsuit here, against Yorkville Endoscopy and against this ENT..the only part of this story that does not make sense is the part about the biopsy and how Joan Rivers did not consent to it. I have had endoscopies and colonoscopies before, so has my Mom, I dont know if its different at other clinics but at Kaiser, you sign one consent form and it has nothing to do with taking biopsies during the procedure. If the doctor finds something they remove it, they don’t leave it in and ask you later if you wanted it removed

Somehow, I do think that Joan would find this funny. Certainly, if this all had happened to another celebrity, her jokes would be nonstop and funny, too. She was a comic genius, even though she did go over the edge.

It’s particularly amazing because I’m betting Joan would have gladly posed for a quick photo with her long-time ENT if he asked politely — and perhaps had done so! Point being, it’s pretty clear that the purpose of this particular selfie was to poke fun at the — at HIS — patient. Wow.

I dont understand why Joan Rivers took this woman to Yorkville Endscopy with her..an ENT would have already looked at her vocal chords with a camera through the nose and would have seen the polyp immediately and she would have been taken to the hospital to get the biopsy done, I just don’t get what this doctors connection to Yorkville is
I think there’s more here than what we’re hearing. The clinic is actively trying to throw Joan’s doctor under the bus. This should have been a pretty routine procedure. Even going into laryngospasm, you have trained ENTs there. Couldn’t they preform a tracheostomy on her?
