Not too different from the citizens of Rome in the late republican era: all work was done by armies of domestic and foreign slaves, so the average Roman had nothing to do except collect free bread from the granaries and watch free gladiatorial contests.

Nature might find ways to strike back. A tiny percent feeding the mass of humanity from thousands of miles away will all collapse into anarchy and starvation if the power ever goes out and stays out. Power grids will be primary targets in any future wars. What hubris to flatly state that "automation is inevitable."

Very different, because human and animal muscle power harvested and delivered the grain to human mouths, which meant that no fall could be catastrophically sudden for all of humanity.

Today, if the power goes out and stays out for even a week or two, our cities will explode and burn. In any future war, power grids and the computers that control them will be primary targets.
