The unemployment rate has (once again) disappointed.
The problem people, is that America continues to export jobs.
Not goods. Jobs.
Does anyone actually believe the unemployment rate is 6.1%?
Never going to happen until the tax code is radically changed, this includes divorcing healthcare responsibility from business .
Production in this country is just too expensive, profits are double to produce the same widget elsewhere. When it comes down to it, business is about profit.
We have the highest corporate tax rate in the world.

Totally agree about seperating healthcare from employment. I like the model of the 401K but make something for healthcare. Employer matches funds and the employee decides how to save / spend the account funds on premiums, over the counter and long term care.

Only 62% in the labor force! because the crooked Labor Dept. Doesn’t count those who have gone through their unemployment funds years ago. That is crazy and deceptive.

Yeah, right - it’s only 1.1% above what most economists deem “full employment” where those getting hired are just churning from one position to another.

The US tax rate is near 40%. The US also taxes investment money for startups as income.
Ireland is 12.5% has no tax on investment and the corporate rate drops to 7.5% if R&D is located there.
Guess which country has no shot at this startup and their potentially highly paid workforce?
these unemployment figures are pure fantasy at this point. actual job numbers should be used:
Q: how many full time jobs were there when 0failure took the office?
A: 155m
Q: how many full time jobs are there today?
A: 118m
we’ve got more people today and less jobs. which is perfect for big govt types as they get more voters.
people begging for food/welfare make very reliable voters for democrats

I believe that as the government defines it and its operatives determine it, that the unemployment rate is 6.1%. The state can proclaim anything it wants.
Its all just noise to keep the sheep in line and the financial Matrix humming along.
If you can pay your personal debt with Federal Reserve liabilities derived from Treasury debt, I guess anything is possible.
The unemployment rate number is almost meaningless. It has been manipulated and bastardized by politicians to the point that it no longer reflects the real state of employment. It misleads rather than informs.
Unfortunately this is not the only economic number that has been corrupted.
Good post Wrench. I would add that the excessive and ever increasing regulatory environment is also onerous on business and a big negative they have to contend with.
Government needs to get off the backs of the people and businesses.

You forgot to add, incorrect. Unemployment compensation has no bearing on how the unemployment rate is calculated.
