“Unless you live near an airport then the sounds of planes falling from the sky would wake you up in the middle of the night...”
Just looked at one of the EMP disaster (prepper) site. He has all kind of warning about airplanes, cars and elevators.
BUT, he says you can protect your electronic devices with a simple Faraday cage. Aluminum foil works ... so does a metal filing cabinet .... if fact any metal will do!
Does anyone else see the false logic he is using.
They only use the yummy cow bones that jiggle.
I just hope we have a leader who would say, “fine let’s all go back a couple hundred years”, and EMP the globe. The only part of the aftermath that concerns me is other countries trying to occupy us as does China and Mehico in the book.
Military bases will probably catch nukes; but a few EMP's surprise bursted above us and 3/4 of the population (probably more) will be dead within 90 days. Disease and cannibalism will get most of the rest.
What does a “local problem for the troops in the field” mean?
The military and Congress seem to think that it is more than just local, for instance the military is building an EMP proof installation in Alaska, right now.
“”Army to build blast- and EMP-proof launch-control building for Alaska-based missile defense

FORT GREELY, Alaska, 19 May 2014. U.S. Army missile-defense officials are constructing a special building hardened against blast and electro-magnetic pulse (EMP) at Fort Greely, Alaska, for command and control of anti-ballistic missiles to protect help protect the United States from enemy nuclear missile attack.
Officials of the Army Corps of Engineers in Elmendorf, Alaska, announced a $44.3 million contract Friday to Watterson Construction Co. in Anchorage, Alaska, to design and build a blast- and EMP-hardened mechanical-electrical building for missile defense field number one at Fort Greely, Alaska.””
I was in the shower today when my wife turned the light off. I had my eyes closed and didn’t notice as she walked away. The light switch is in the hall. All the other rooms including the other bathroom have the light switches in the rooms. I never gave it a thought before, been living here 7 years.
The car is not grounded, it would be toast.

I heard from a stationary coil tests that perhaps the car won’t be totally crippled, but then again, these tests aren’t neccessarily thorough.
Philadelphia naval yard is around 30 miles from my home. The explosion and debris will be an issue if it happens.
It does hold a strategic importance in causing a little disorientation before a nuke hits.
I wouldn’t count on that.
Airplanes survive lightning strikes on a regular basis and don’t crash.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
Sometimes. But quite often the instruments and electronic indicators can be disabled so hopefully the pilot knows how to handle some things manually.
Sounds like your beeber was stuned.
Asbruptly as you fell asleep?
If there weren’t redundant systems, you’d be hearing about a lot more airplanes crashing.
Good read.
That’s not an EMP attack, that’s a temporal distortion. Check family photos to see if anyone is missing.
I finally quit having that dream where you show up in class wearing only your underwear only to hear for the first time that the final exam was scheduled for that day.
