Has anyone read the book by Robert Littell? Is it different from the tv show?

I see the show's writers has made the enemy American flag loving white, male, armed and not Muslim. Its a trope that's so old it needs to be buried.

I watched this for Sean Bean and to look at Ali Larter and Amber Valletta but...Good Lord.

You can imagine the production meeting yourself. “And get this...we’ll name the head bad guy...are you ready? The FOUNDING FATHER! Tee hee!”

Never read the books, but yeah, I almost gave up on it. However, it appears that angle may already be done. I wasn't sure where it was headed, but by the end of the first episode, the direction they're taking is interesting.
