The United States on Thursday ordered families of its diplomats in Liberia to leave and warned against non-essential travel to the West African country because of the growing Ebola outbreak.

A State Department statement said U.S. staff would remain on active duty at the embassy and additional staff were being sent to help the government tackle the outbreak of the deadly virus.

"The latest wave of the outbreak has overwhelmed Liberia's health system and most health facilities lack sufficient staff or resources to address the continuing transmission" of the disease, it said.

I’m seeing the opening credits of a good zombie movie where a world map goes from healthy to completely infected in short order.
We must remain clam.
There is nothing to fear but the fear of bleeding-out at all your orifices. I’m totally this close to buying the ‘Michoan’ sword from the nice folks at Atlanta Cutlery.
No. Cold Steei is better.

Two patients with Ebola-Like symptoms from Benin (tiny country next to Nigeria). Under going tests. Possibly infected from the Liberian who traveled to Lagos.

“Still no new case or death statistics for three days”

This has been floating around Twitter for several hours:

Nigerian, suspected with Ebola infection, in Cotonou hospital (Benin Republic)

Benin Republic, Nigeria’s neighbour, has reported its first case of Ebola. The suspected victim is however a Nigerian. He is now receiving treatment in a hospital in Cotonou, the seat of government.

Health Minister Dorothée Gazard, an associate professor of parasitology and mycology, said on state television on Thursday, that a sample of of the Nigerian blood has been sent to Senegal for testing, .

The case is unconfirmed but Gazard’s announcement triggered widespread fears in the political capital Cotonou. Many people said they would stock up on food and stop eating at popular roadside food stalls to avoid possible infection, witnesses said.

Over 900 people have died in West Africa since the outbreak of the virus early this year.
