Obama Motorcade Prevents Pregnant Woman in Labor From Getting to the Hospital

News reports today and irate witnesses at the scene report that a pregnant woman in labor was not allowed to cross the street to go to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for 30 minutes because Obama’s motorcade was expected to drive through the area.

The woman sat on a bus bench until Obama’s motorcade drove through.

People at the scene quickly used Twitter and the hasthag #ObamaBabyWatch and posted pictures of the woman and commented about her plight.Because the Obama motorcade prevented her from getting to the hospital, workers at the medical facility went across the street to attend to her in case she gave birth before getting to the hospital.

From The Blaze:

Witnesses say a pregnant woman in labor was prevented by authorities from crossing a Los Angeles street to a hospital Wednesday because the road had been closed for President Barack Obama’s impending motorcade.

The unidentified woman was barred from walking the few hundred feet to the hospital for at least 30 minutes as authorities waited for the president’s motorcade to pass by, witness Carrie Clifford told TheBlaze early Thursday morning.

“I felt bad for her,” Clifford said. “It does happen when Obama comes to L.A. or I’m sure anywhere else. It paralyzes the city, it does make it complicated.”

“You can’t do the things you had set out to do because the president is in town,” she added.

Some of the comments on Twitter included:

“You think labor’s bad? You should see how many fundraising parties I have to get to tonight”

If I were the woman in labor, I would get my attitude on and cross the dang street. What are they gonna do? C’mon. #obamababywatch

Now wait just a minute. The hospital staff could cross the street but she couldn’t? Someone is lying big time.

Maybe if security let medical personnel across then put the woman in surgical garb and walk her back across. Or roll her around the block and come into the hospital the back way. Sorry, but this story makes no sense.

With Obamacare they are now government employees and as such an entitled class. Rules don’t apply to them. Show some respect for your betters, serf.

My first thought was ‘ would they have prevented her from crossing to an abortion clinic?’ And if they had, Obama would have issued a new executive order that Secret Service escort women if it happens in the future.

In all fairness, you can’t blame this one on OBbama. This is protocol and would have happened regardless of who the president was.

The king is supreme! The king is more important than the ordinary people.
I’m sure that the motorcade would NOT stop or move to let an ambulance through even if it meant the person would die.
I didn’t vote for him.

This country had better get rid of its fascination and love for royalty. I thought that the USA got rid of the English king a long time ago. Apparently, it still has an attachment for the king.

Sorry, but in a democracy, all have equal value, and there is no royalty and there are no privileged individuals.

Presidents are a traveling circus. Where ever they go, they cause disruptions.

But even with the MSM willing to indict Bush for hate crimes if he left a tiny beer fart at a ball game, you never heard about this kind of thing from him.

I remember reading in European history how the land barons dreaded a visit from the king, because it would nearly impoverish them to provide suitable comforts for the king and his entourage.

Just imagine the media outrage if a Bush motorcade had prevented a woman from getting to an abortion clinic

Permit me to BTTT that thought.

Does anything about the Great I Won ever make any sense?

The second he opens his mouth, you know he’s about to tell some obvious whopper.

“Seems odd that the medical staff could cross the street, but not the patient.”

Good catch-—I read the article and that didn’t even dawn on me.

I think I see the problem, it’s right there in the picture, she appears to be a White woman!

Bull crap. Bummer's motorcades blocked the streets in Austin last time he was here for hours. He had barely hit the runway and the roads were closed for hours. Most PDs keep the roads open until the last possible minute when the motorcade is getting close.

She should have just gone ahead and crossed anyway.

Would they really risk the negative publicity of arresting a woman in labor?

Sadly, I don’t honestly know. But sometimes forgiveness is easier than permission.

“As democracy is perfected, the office of the president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.” -H.L. Mencken

I’m guessing that being in labor might have had something to do with it. She might also have been concerned about taking a risk with her baby. A simple misstep and she might have been struck by a vehicle.

. . . which is why it was so all-fired “important" that “W” Bush should have landed at New Orleans “to boost morale.” And lash things up even worse than they already were.
