Activists say $13 minimum wage isn't enough

(CHICAGO) The activists who are agitating for a $15 minimum wage are rejecting Mayor Rahm Emanuel's $13 an hour proposal.

The Raise Chicago Coalition organized by the Service Employees Union says $13 is a good start, but they still want $15.

In any case, the coalition’s Adeline Bracey says the current minimum wage cannot stand.

“I can’t survive on $8.25,” Bracey said. “My community cannot thrive on $8.25! We are barely alive on $8.25. And in the words of the rapper, this ain’t no jive, this $8.25!”

Chicago should raise its minimum wage requirement to $30 per hour!

Come on, Rahm! Do it!

I don’t understand - if they are too stupid to understand how wages relate to value added and to price inflation, then why are they only asking for $15/hr? Why not ask for $100/hr - then everyone would be making $200,000/year without overtime!

Stupid and unambitious - no wonder minimum wage is so important to them!

don’t forget high end luxury car and SUV payments along with the payments on the credit card for the bling installed on said cars..

The min wage is a starting point. NOT a lifetime wage. If you cant get off the min wage after a year you need to look in the mirror NOT at the man writing your check.

I started out at min wage at 16.. and never again..

It’s all well and good to encourage libs to be libs when their policies can’t affect us.

I REALLY REALLY wish we could return to a more federalist model where everything was done at the state level.

Then we could really egg the bass turds on!

It isn’t about survival at all. It’s about driving business out of business, and or depending upon the type of business out of the country. It’s about preventing entrepreneurs from starting up business, from starting up manufacturing in this country. It’s about the Socialist-Democrats, Cloward Piven strategy to sink the United States of America under the waves. They intend to kill this country by every means available to them. They have been working on this a long, long, long time.

Raise the minimum wage so high, and instill so many regulations nobody can afford to produce anything. That and all the other crap they are pulling is by design to change our great country from USA to RIP.

and then there is the Bible:

“International Standard Version
I heard what sounded like a voice from among the four living creatures, saying, “One day’s ration of wheat for a day’s wage, or three day’s ration of barley for a day’s wage! But don’t damage the olive oil or the wine!”

coming closer- one days ration of wheat -FOR WORKING
THE WHOLE day-

I know- .... we will just cut the ration of wheat!

“Somebody should plant the seed that $20 isn’t enough.”

The way we ended up with Social Security is FDR was afraid that a politician who was pushing a living wage paid by the government to everybody would knock him out with a primary. The idea had huge traction in the ‘30’s. (I want to say it was Long out of Louisiana.) So, in comparison Social Security looked downright conservative. Plus, they only started Social Security at 65. Stats at the time said they’d pay out darned little of it. They had no idea that people would regularly live into their ‘80’s. FDR probably thought he was being clever. Comparing FDR with today’s Democrat is like comparing John McCain to Saul Alinsky. Alinsky makes McCain look very conservative. But he isn’t really conservative. He’s a statist as was FDR, just not to the degree of today’s Democrats.

So, tongue in cheek you’re saying $20 should be the number. It appears that in a very few years even that time’s conservatives will think so too.

There’s an over-rated deli in Ann Arbor MI that boasts it pays $15 a hour plus healthcare. Average sandwich is $18. Lemonade $8. So how many hours would an employee have to work to pay for lunch five days a week?

It should be $113.98 per hour.
That will solve this awful crisis.
