I am worried this can get to cat 3 by July 4..we have it as a 2. But to put in perspective, Able, MAY 1951 was cat 3 off NC.

Link is to Joe's twitter feed - so if you aren't on twitter, don't scream at me.

Nauti Nurse - I assume you'll do your usual great job of covering this storm. I just wanted a to give an early warning to some. This time of year, complacency is rampant.

Models are already in pretty strong agreement - probably will have something fierce between Cape Lookout and Hatteras Island by Friday-ish.

I feel bad for our friend who is getting marriend on Saturday in Northern Virginia. Looks like it is going to be a pretty bad day.

It’s now in the northern Bahamas. Expected to “form” in the next day or so, then track up the Gulf Stream to the Outer Banks. Could be hurricane roughly when it parallels Jacksonville... Thursday.

Hasn’t even been declared a tropical storm yet to my knowledge. Probably will be later today/tonight. There are spaghetti models that all sort of agree where it’s heading.

Sounds like a great time for Red England tourists to head for the Outer Banks...surf’s up!

Bastardi's latest public info:

http://t.co/Tz3uuuE08W track/intensity with 2cnd map of Arthur issued yesterday pm ( 24 hour embargo) pic.twitter.com/C1Ul841jkK— Joe Bastardi (@BigJoeBastardi) June 30, 2014

(pics of his forecasted track and intensity in that tweet... the 'embargo' he mentions is because his paying customers at weatherbell.com got the same info 24 hours ago.)

On a busy holiday no less. That said, I don’t knock the Mets because I’ve been through it. 17 days w/out power in 90 degree heat in 2004.

I always knock the Mets.... but that’s because I’m a Braves fan and the Mets are so easy to pick on.

Definite swirl on radar now - center parallel with Port St. Lucie. Some models (LBAR) run Arthur right at the shoreline (roughly Satellite Beach) in 48 hours before running it to the OBX. Most still have it staying off-shore... emsembles currently show a hit somewhere around the Atlantic Beach-to-Cape Lookout area.

I saw this swirling off the coast from here (Savannah) on Saturday and told my wife that we should be watching it.

Fortunately, it looks like it will stay away from us. Hope it stays a fish storm.

“BAMS looks like Arthur could visit New England...”

And by the time it gets here, we’ll call it another rainstorm.
