Could time travel soon become a reality? Physicists simulate sending quantum light particles

University of Queensland researchers say photons can move through time A simulation of two wormhole-travelling photons found they could interact This suggests, at the smallest scales, jumping through time is possible The experiment could solve some famous theories that 'prevent' time travel But whether this will be possible on a larger scale remains to be seen

If a time traveller went back in time and stopped their own grandparents from meeting, would they prevent their own birth?

That’s the crux of an infamous theory known as the 'grandfather paradox', which is often said to mean time travel is impossible - but some researchers think otherwise.

A group of scientists have, for the first time, simulated how two time-travelling photons would interact, suggesting that, at a quantum level at least, jumping through time might be possible.

The research was carried out by a team of researchers at the University of Queensland in Australia and their results are published in the journal Nature Communications. The study used photons - single particles of light - to simulate quantum particles travelling back through time.

By studying their behaviour, the scientists revealed possible bizarre aspects of modern physics.

There was already a thread today that proved time travel.
Some ancient civilization had a stegosaur carved in a relief right next to all the other animals of their time and location.

Obviously, someone from the post-fossil-discovery future time traveled back and drew one for them. Because the explanation that the steg was alive at the same time as humans is more far fetched.

Time travel? No. Alternate universe travel? Sure.

If Al Gore hasn’t claimed he invented it yet, then it’s not possible to time travel.

No, they don’t move through time. So the conclusion is NO.

time and faster then light travel are linked.. so this also equates to faster then light travel

if time travel was possible, there would be people from the future at each and every critical event in history. and they would be dressed funny and speak in funny languages. and we’d all know about them.

I received a phone call from my future self. He warned me about everything that is happening now. I called him a nut and hung up on myself.

“wormholes” do not exist. They are not even theoretical. They are science fiction.

I have a time machine, but in only travels into the future at a rate of 1 second per second.

There's an old scifi series whose story lines were based around the search for wormhole technology.

In the last ten minutes of the movie that tied up the loose ends after the series was cancelled, the hero opens up a wormhole in front of the invasion fleet, and rather than terminating it in the mouth of a small dog for swallowing, he points it at a star...

Just because you can time-travel doesn’t mean you’re not getting older.
