There are reports that Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo could be out of the World Cup due to a lingering knee injury.

On Wednesday, Portugal's doctor reportedly told the striker that he could risk serious damage if he continues playing in the tournament.

Ronaldo didn't comment. But he needed an ice pack for his troublesome left knee during a training session, as Portugal prepared for its World Cup match against the United States.

We may be headed for a Brazil versus Argentina final. And in terms of international sports, they really dislike each other, too.

Awesome. Pepe gone. CR7 possibly gone. We could actually make it out of the Group of Death!

Spain and Australia are now officially out of the World Cup. Wow, who would have thought Spain would have played so horribly?

Looks like Spain is out after being defeated by Chile.

Spaniards are going to be seriously shocked at this defeat. From World Cup champs to out of the running pretty much right out of the gate.

Ouch.

Same thing happened to France in 2002. The came in as the defending WC and European Champions, and thudded out.

Four years is a long time.

Yes, it is, and that’s very true. Four years in sports is an eternity.

I have to admit if the US won the World Cup, I think a good many Europeans would be flabbergasted. I had a friend of mine of here say, “I didn’t even know the USA had a team....”

LOL. So if the US pulls off a victory, I think it’s going to be bemusing for me as an American over here.
