Controversial billionaire Chen Guangbiao placed a full-page advertisement in Mondays New York Times and a half-page advertisement in Wednesdays Wall Street Journal, inviting 1,000 underprivileged Americans to dine with him. I want to spread the message in the US that there are good philanthropists in China and not all are crazy spenders on luxury goods.
Chen said he was teaming up with a famous American charity to host a charity luncheon for 1,000 poor and destitute Americans, who each will receive 300 dollars. The underprivileged will be invited to the Boat House restaurant in New Yorks Central Park, where Chen will sing "We are the world" in English.
I hope they can spend the money on occupational training and know there are no religious or ethnic boundaries when it comes to charity,.Chen said he expected the 1,000 places to be filled in a few days.
In response to criticism that he should help his poor countrymen first, Chen said US philanthropists donated to Chinas disasters; why cant we help the poor in the US? It will also improve Sino-US ties.

“Controversial billionaire Chen Guangbiao placed a full-page advertisement in Mondays New York Times and a half-page advertisement in Wednesdays Wall Street Journal, inviting 1,000 underprivileged Americans to dine with him. “
This more than anything illustrates the devastation of the Obama economy as even those who read the New York Times and Wall Street Journal are now “underprivileged.”
If the jackass wants to help americans then how about doing everything he can to remove democrats from power and restore an economy that provides jobs and a strong economy.
NYC as the place to do this? It’s many of these “underprivileged” who vote (some multiple times) for democrats. How about spreading it around to those outside of the liberal shithole cities who are out of work because of the obama economy and left with no hope or means of finding work?
He wants to buy the NYT Opinion page so he can write what a great guy he is.
Wow, this is going to turn out well.

What could go wrong?
In New York City the definition of poor is anyone making less than $55,000 per year.
I think Guanggeou or whatever his name is ought to offer dinner to about 1/4 of all New Yawkas.
Err.. excuse me... Do you have the money?
Oh Yea!
Yes.
And for the political impact, I’d do it.
Might bring down the Communist Party in China. Totally worth it.
:-)
How much did he spend on that advertising?
How much of it could've gone to a soup kitchen which already distributes food to the homeless/poor?
More like a political power statement.
