Start Trek is still good Sci Fi. Libs like it because we are all unified and don't worry about money...Conservatives like it because we get to blow the crap out of Romulans and Klingons for a damn good reason and get to travel all over the Galaxy.

And there are also the Green Slave Women on Orion...

The warp engines create a warp bubble around the ship that is using simple impulse. The warp bubble is what travels faster than light. It’s a theory.

Why design something you know nothing about how to make it work?

Ask Obama and anyone involved in creating ObamaCare.

Most things today seem to just be improvements on existing tech.

Yes, the ship itself only propels by impulse engines.

Ferengi designed that mess.

Actually, money does come up. They talk about “credits”. It’s obviously a payment earned that you can use in private busnisses on star bases or Federation planets or mabye friendly alien planets!

I’ve seen this graphic and heard this theory before. Cute how they use the little NCC-1701 icon. One thing though....ever seen footage of astronauts blasting off? See the g force of accelerating just to 10,000 mph? The body may not be going 600,000,000 mph, but maneuvering around warp bubbles would mimic something that our biology or any other would not withstand. I love Star Trek as much as the next geek, but for a reality check, this just will never exist.

great comment - Im in complete agreement.

I collected all the lithos available from my Congressman at the time, who actually would respond to my letters - imagine that -

Today my wife asks why I get teary eyed when I pull them out and reminisce...

I collected shuttle stuff for the kids, but that didn't carry the same exploration value as a moonshot and the National pride we all felt

I'd be thankful for a lowly shuttle program at this point...

Branson picks up the ball though, at least in entertainment value

Newton would probably have comprehended a hydrogen bomb after two semesters of theoretical physics taught by Einstein, as well as a few semesters of chemistry taught by Rutherford or Chadwick, followed by an internship at the Curie Institute.

None of that knowledge was even remotely suspected in his time.
