"This is not something any one nation can do on their own," Stofan said. "It's something that humanity is going to do together."Good grief.

Seems like the moon would be the logical place to start. It can be a staging area to anywhere else. It only takes a few days to get there. It takes months to get to mars.

How much will we be paying the Russians to fly us there?

We will achieve this goal, if it is Allah’s will.

I thought Muslim outreach was NASA’s primary focus. The dimwit administrator admitted as much.

They’re waiting until the printed copy of the regulations in the Federal Register reaches the red planet.

20 years to get to Mars?
They’ll be pushing it to get back to the Moon in 20 years.

ok, I’ll ask a stupid question hoping for a smart answer: if an asteroid is redirected to orbit the moon, will it have a tidal effect or would it be too small to matter?

I agree. As much as I’d like to see us get to mars, establishing a permanent base on the moon should be first.

Too small to master. Unless they goof and it crashes into the moon. Then we all basically die badly.

It was a span of 66 Years from the Wright Brothers in 1903 to the Moon landing in 1969.
Who would have thought in 1969 that it would be another 66 years before a landing on Mars?
(But who in 1969 would predict a dying USA was only 3 or 4 decades away?)
