Thanks.
FedEx uses a lot of contractors that probably aren’t counted as actual employees.
Not all of them. Vanderbilt here in TN is private.
Yes, it explains why we are the way we are today. Not much private enterprise left in America, today.
Location Daniel Island, SC
Number of Employees 55,000
Why have I never heard of this group? Daniel Island does not have 55,000 employees. Is it possible many are employed out of state?
I agree. The article is erroneous.
According to a NJ.com article from November 2013, the 15 biggest employers in New Jersey are....
1. Wakefern Food (they own ShopRite), 36,000
2. Rutgers University, 28,700
3. Barnabas Health, 18,000
4. Walmart, 17,900
5. Verizon, 15,800
6. UPS, 14,800
7. Johnson & Johnson, 13,500
8. United Airlines, 13,400
9. Caesers Entertainment, 13,100
10. The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. Inc., 12,400
11. Bank of America Merrill Lynch, 12,000
12. NJ Transit, 12,000
13. Meridian Health, 11,000
14. Robert Wood Johnson Health Network, 11,000
15. Home Depot, 10,800
Maybe they meant jobs actually in that state.
It would seem that ShopRite probably has employees in that number that don’t live or work in NJ.
Confusing data for sure in the article.
This latest list of employers is topped by Chicago-based Boeing, with 85,000 employees working at its Commercial Airplanes division and other manufacturing operations in Everett, Renton and elsewhere in the state. That's almost half of the aerospace company's 172,000 total employees.
Unless Micro$haft has grown a lot in less than a year, yeah, this guy needs to do some better research than acinet. Their 2014 listing doesn't even list Boeing until #18, which is 'Boeing Training and Flight Svc', which is really a small division of Boeing based in Renton.
This is why I take these "charts" with a huge bag of salt. They're almost always wrong, made up by ill-informed idiots who don't have even the simplest internet research skills.
