Texas Demands a Picture ID AND My Social Security Number for a Fishing License?
Me

Posted on 03/28/2014 3:08:00 PM PDT by not2be4gotten.com

And my out of state address?

What about I just pay my $16 and get a piece of paper that has the state seal on it and a serial number?

What is the point of any of the rest of this?

What is the Social Security number used for?

If I lied about my Social Security number for my, oh, so, important fishing license, because I have an outstanding parking tickets in San Francisco and I don't want to be denied my fishing license, because I have already paid $100 to go fishing, am I potentially up on fraud charges?

And if I am committing fraud, how many years should I get?

This is increasingly happening everywhere as I have been exploring this great country over the last few years.

And I am a 30 year database expert and I have to tell you that collecting this information, over and over again, is potentially very bad news for the common citizenry.

There is not one thing about this transaction that was potentially beneficial to me, other than to not be arrested for fishing.

All this does is further empower whoever the current people with power are.

I am fishing with Captain Murphy out off of South Padre Island tomorrow morning.

What, do they require a retinal scan to go fishing in a blue state like Massachusetts?

At some point this has to stop.

Why do they want this information?

Information is power.

You should have just voted. Nothing needed for that.

She said “Type your Social Security number into this keypad.”

And with my eyes wide open, I said “Excuse me, are you joking?”

I was afraid that she, then, made a move to call the police, and the thought flashed through my mind to bolt out of the store, right then and there.

It is like “Can we see your papers” in 1940’s Europe.

To go fishing?

In Texas??????????

We need a drivers license and additional proof of residency (voter registration card) to get a resident fishing license in Michigan. I don’t believe the information is collected.

Obviously trout stamps are extra.

We went to Tennessee for vacation last summer. They wanted my 17 yr old’s social security number and drivers license for a 3 day pass. Crazy!

You can thank the white knights for this.

Requiring this information was implemented to track down and imprison "dead beat dads" whos wives left and ruined them with unjust child support payments.

You can thank the folks not paying their Child Support, or the zealots that have convinced Federal, State, and many Local governments that you must be current on said Child Support to receive a hunting or fishing license n large part for this IMO!

Thought I saw the other day that a ‘lecture’ talk was being given by one of ‘our esteemed, glorious, leaders’ on a College Campus, with the topic being ‘Voter ID etc etc’.

NOW, would I be going out on a limb by suggesting that ANYONE attending such lecture/talk would be
REQUIRED TO SHOW ID TO GET INTO THE HALL,
especially if it were a ‘Government Official’ doing the Pitching?

I may be considered a ‘DUMB’ High School Dropout, with NARY a College Degree and have very easily figured out the audacity of having to have an ID to attend a lecture about the ‘unfairness’ of requiring an ID to vote while - UNOFFICIALLY - an ID is required for everything in life from a free ?????? card issued by the Government, UP to and NOT INCLUDING voting.....

Matter of fact, I needed an ID to get an ID issued by the state that ‘proclaims’ my Military Service.

The Captain or the boat isn’t licensed itself?

I run my own charter boat here in Florida and even they don’t require all that for a charter license much less a personal license.

They have no legal reason to request your social security number. Your Social Security number can only be required for financial transactions. I refused to give them mine when I got my last fishing license in Texas. They still issued the license. I had a valid Texas Drivers license which they used for the ID.
