THE STAR WITNESS was anonymous, like each of Jerry Sandusky's victims.
He was described in the grand jury presentment only as "a Penn State graduate assistant." Anyone reading the 23-page presentment released on Nov. 4, 2011, would be horrified by the prosecution's version of what the witness said he saw a decade ago. In the locker room shower inside the Lasch Football Building on Penn State's campus, he stumbled upon "a naked boy, Victim 2 ... with his hands up against the wall, being subjected to anal intercourse by a naked Sandusky. The graduate assistant was shocked but noticed that both Victim 2 and Sandusky saw him. The graduate assistant left immediately, distraught."
The following day, he reported the incident to his boss, coach Joe Paterno, though he was short on specifics. And then Paterno relayed the report to athletic director Tim Curley. And then no one at Penn State did anything to stop Sandusky from preying on boys for a decade.
Long before the presentment became public, players, coaches and residents heard rumors -- that McQueary saw Sandusky fondle the boy, or that they were engaged in horseplay. But suddenly the rumors were not only true, they had mushroomed into the biggest college football scandal in history, one that wasn't just about the crimes of one man but about an administration's alleged attempt to cover them up. Most people here were surprised at how the prosecutors quoted McQueary in the presentment. Anal intercourse? This was far more graphic than the rumors had it; more than a few people asked: Why didn't Big Red stop it?

"I watched him throw so hard he broke a kid's nose." (McQueary's presence at the Behrend football camp in 2004 meant that the assistant coach worked with Sandusky two years after the 2002 incident, in which allegedly he witnessed his employer raping a boy.)
Here’s an idea . . . perhaps Fljoepa and Jedediah can work together on some “prophetic words”.
FlJoePa - just wanted you to know that you do have some friends here. Some of us still believe that Joe was a great man. It’s so easy for anonymous posters to spew their hate for Joe and PSU, without regard for facts. They are cowards, and Joe was a million times a greater man than them. McQueery is not a legitimate witness - his story changes every time. And everything we know about Paterno’s life is not consistent with what we’re being led to believe by Bob Costas and ESPN. Do they really think that after 60 years of being the most respected coach in football, (success with honor), that all of a sudden he decides to cover-up a for a child-molester? No. That is not Joe Paterno.
So keep on keepin on, my FRiend - even when it seems everyone is against you. And when the truth comes out - that Joe didn’t know - that Joe really was the guy we thought he was for 60 years - don’t expect any apologies from the haters - they will disappear back into anonymity.
Thanks privatedrive. Anyone with any sense would see it the same way, but the media eventually drives all where we want to go. Apparently a lot of people just don’t like PSU and Joe.
Thought I addressed that already. Mike’s “... life work was wrapped up in love and loyalty to Coach Paterno and Penn State”.
That life work included tolerating the proximity of Sandusky and the endless foot dragging Neanderthals around him, covering up for him, at Old Main. Those were the insufferable conditions that everyone at Penn permited to exist.
What was he suppose to do any different from anyone else in the know, including Paterno and the boys? They all carried on with their assignments.
Yeah, either that or something that makes some sense.
Like maybe MM didn’t come around to the OAG’s version of events until they put the screws to him on his gambling and whoring around campus.
Hey, it took me days to give up that Paterno should have done more, that rumors had circulated for too long with good reason, that all these guys (including Paterno) were pointing up, down and over to somebody else, away from their own responsibility, anything to keep the responsibility moving. Except McQuery. He had the most to lose and the least of power to prevent losing it.
The rest would have walked away rich, if they had been dismissed.
Paterno will always have his record in tact. His family has security. But the one who stopped a predator and the charade that permitted his run of the showers has guys like you.

The truth is Penn State covered up a scandal during the worst 4 years of JoePa’s career (26-37). If this had come out then he’d gone for sure. Remember the firejoepa.com sites

None of this is news - Ziegler uncovered it all months - even years ago.
Ziegler is a funny follow on twitter right now as he has been in conversation w/ Van Natta throughout the writing of this story. Ziegler says what Van Natta told him was going to be in the story was either edited out or JZ was lied to by DVN.

An aside, the keying of my car didn’t even ruin my day. It IS a metaphor of what the media did here though - turning hundreds of thousands of alums/students/fans into a bunch of knuckle dragging pedophile enablers.

I addressed that already. McQuery moved his report and responsibility, UP, to Paterno; Paterno’s “report” simply moved his responsibility, OVER, over to Old Main. Old Main moved it back, DOWN, to Mike M, (but skipped Paterno).
And then they all hired lawyers.
Try hard to follow the bouncing ball.
Still defending the cult of Paterno. 61 years? Really? If this teaches anyone anything it is that Paterno stayed and was ALLOWED to stay too long. “Yes men”, minions, cult worshippers leading to silence and corruption.
Mind sets that could not/would not understand the gravity of the situation because let’s face it, everyone was worried about Paterno and his legacy. Well guess what, he has a legacy alright. Defend him forever, and some will but it will never be anything other than it is now.

The article calls into serious question the credibility of MM.
With no MM credibility, all your hatred towards Joe Paterno goes for naught.
Of course, Frank Fina (the chief js prosecutor) already TOLD YOU that Joe Paterno was not involved in any coverup, but you chose not to listen to that either.
The ones who have their heads in the sand here aren’t people like me - who see an injustice and want it corrected, but rather people like YOU - who desperately cling to the existing false media narrative that you so want to believe.
Then answer at long last what connection you have with Penn State, Paterno, etc. You have been asked this numerous times and not just by me.
Personally, I have no “hate” for Paterno. I think he was a pathetic old man who stayed too long and let himself be insulated by the cult of personality. Like it or not, he will be remembered for this as will the rest of the sorry bunch that allowed this to continue for some years.
