NFL could pull Super Bowl if Arizona religious rights bill passes
Washington Examiner ^ | February 25, 2014 | Ashe Schow

Call it what you want -- anti-gay or religious rights -- but if Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signs a controversial bill, you might not be calling Arizona the home of the 2015 Super Bowl.

The Religious Freedom Restoration Act, S.B. 1062, is the current controversy du jour out of Arizona, and the National Football League is with the opposition.

“Our policies emphasize tolerance and inclusiveness and prohibit discrimination based on age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or any other improper standard,” NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told USA Today. “We are following the issue in Arizona and will continue to do so should the bill be signed into law, but will decline further comment at this time.”

I hope they do drop it - as a Redskins fan I’ve been waiting for that last straw...

Soon the players will all wear dresses there will be no touching runners just pointing at them will count and tickets will cost, for the cheap seats, $2000.00 per game, there will be no scores kept so that there are no losers and bowl games will never be played as there will never be any losers.

Headbutting in the NFL is proving to bad for brains. Get out while you still can.

By the time I’m lying in my Soylent Green suicide bed watching my personalized movie of “how it used to be” some decades from now, I think I will have added a few seconds of videotape of some random NFL game where they just talk about football.

OK, how about...

You have a business creating custom cakes. You could, for example, make a football cake for a boy’s birthday party, or a cake that looks like a pony with a pink hair ribbon for a little girls party, etc. The sign at the door says “WE make custom cakes! Tell us what you want us to bake, and we’ll do the rest!”

Someone comes into your store, and asked you to make them a cake that looks just like a vajiji. Do you have to? How about a man’s phallus? A couple doing a sex act? I’ve seen these cakes. But do we really get to sue a bakery for NOT making them?

Given that this past Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade showcased a dance number with transvestites from the musical “Kinky Boots”, I don’t even want to imagine the exponentially more perverse horrors of a SF halftime show.

The NFL should stay out of politics before it turns even more fans away from the game. Arizona would lose the superbowl for 2015 but the NFL might lose thousands of fans forever. I love football but I'm starting to really dislike NFL football. I might switch to watching the Lingerie Football League.

All red states should pass a similar bill. Then where is the NFL going to have their stupid bowl?

It’s a sport where the ultimate game isn’t even held in the fan bases of one of the teams, that’s why they can get away with only releasing 1% of the stupor bowl tickets to the public.

And if the NFL does that then I will never watch another NFL game nor purchase another NFL item. Hopefully many more will join me in F’n the NFL if they follow through with that threat.

Same here! I may stop watching anyway.

It’s not going to come to pass anyway, the Veto is almost certain. But, the NFL will be shelling out some big bucks to AZ if they pull something like this.

The Super Bowl was not yet scheduled when the NFL pulled that over the MLK holiday issue. Not a valid comparison.

Yet you see no problem with religious discrimination here, to promote gay marriage. Damn liars.
