Anybody Recognize the Opening Theme to the Closing Ceremonies of the Sochi Olympics?
You-Tube ^ | 23 February 2014 | Dimitri Tiomkin

Posted on 02/23/2014 6:09:30 PM PST by Vigilanteman

I thought I did. Now I know I did. Why is it so hard for the blow hards on our alphabet news networks to give credit to a movie about Texas whose score was written by a Russian born American composer.

Obviously, the Russians are proud of him.

Why isn't our media? Just because he was a patriot in Hollywood in a time when it wasn't overwhelmingly dominated by Marxists?

As soon as the opening dance becomes available on You Tube, I would appreciate it if someone would post it!

With due respect, I could care less. When the women folded up with a 2 goal lead in hockey with two minutes to go? I was out a there.

How much less could you care? Since you could care less you must care now!

Russia doesn’t allow homo propaganda on children. this has resulted in a nonstop hissy fit by the homo media to bash (or show in bad light) anything about Russia in the games

It’s not over till it’s over, somebody wisely observed.

Actually, I think Putin makes a fool out of Zippy every time he's around him. The media can't stand that fact.

Children’s Choir singing the Russian national anthem. The Russian gold medalists were honored to be the flag bearers coming into the stadium.

Later we’ll see the South Korean flag brought in to be hoisted for the official handover of the XXIII Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang in 2018

Dimitri Tiomkin was an amazing composer. I have particularly enjoyed his scores in many of the old western movies, including some John Wayne flicks. Theme from High Noon is an old western genre classic. He is internationally famous, so no surprise he would be featured along with other composers in the Olympic closings.

At least the women didn’t fold for an entire game, like the men did against Finland.

All in all, Sochi pulled it off just fine, although the Western media tried to convince people otherwise.

There were a few snafus at the outset but I must say Russia pulled off its first Winter Olympic Games as an independent country.

I would like to see the Summer Olympic Games come to St. Petersburg one day.

Later this year, the Russian Grand Prix Formula One returns after 100 year absence!

There is military draft in Russia, and now, as we speak, the glorious Olympic champions are putting on their Red Army uniforms getting ready to march on the rebellious republic of Ukraine! That’ll show ‘em!

Uh given that the Formula 1 world driving championship began in 1950 how could Russia be absent for 100 years. Yes I know there were grand prix style races prior to 1950 but they were not an organized series of races for a world championship until that year. If there was a Russian Grand Prix around 1914 I would be happy to be informed of it.
