Many moons ago, Mom had pneumonia. Doc prescribed booze instead of cough meds. "You want to break up that @$@#$ in your lungs, not keep it in" was what he said, approximately.

Dunno if it cured the pneumonia, but she didn't care so much about being sick. :-)

Thats what my dad used to do when he had the flu - pour a tumbler of Scotch, swill it down, wrap himself in about 6 blankets, and go to bed for 48 hours. He’d wake up cured.

We called it the “Scottish Sweatlodge” LOL.
